There are also some completely brand new songs that are being fleshed out, and possibly some other surprises coming, and like I mentioned above 3 or 4 of those songs have changed fairly significantly in a very positive way, which has them sounding brand new.
January 29, 2008 at 8:53 pm #35377AnonymousInactiveGreat news IJ. Can’t wait for the record to come out.
January 29, 2008 at 8:58 pm #35378Inside JobParticipantIt was a last minute idea that just came up and Steve was asked if he would give JT a try during the break between sets- being a great sport he said he’d give it a shot. That’s why he had the lyric sheet in his hand etc., and most people thought it was pretty cool. He did do it again in NY with a little more warning.

los lobos at the belly up feb 2nd, whoo hoo! i wonder if lucinda will ever play the belly up again? it’s a great venue/laid back and fun! lucinda has always had great taste in venues!January 30, 2008 at 4:59 pm #35380homosacerParticipantI’d love to throw myself into Lucinda’s short list for duet partners on Jailhouse Tears— 😆
January 30, 2008 at 6:25 pm #35381Lucinda FiendParticipantWOW!….i’m excited….very hip line-up, i’m going to bet…LOU REED for the duet….HEAVEN BLUES as well as all LW lyrics, I KNOW, is really going to SPEAK to me…..CIRCLES & X’s really gets my heart poundin’ because of the genius behind it ALL!
February 4, 2008 at 6:51 pm #35382ripleyParticipantI hate to be the negative nancy but please ditch Honey Bee. It’s so embarrassing to listen to.
I hope this album is better than the less than stellar West. Seems kind of rushed though….
February 4, 2008 at 7:16 pm #35383parkercaParticipantHow is it embarrassing to listen to?
February 4, 2008 at 8:06 pm #35384AnonymousInactiveDon’t take the bait. Just don’t do it.
February 4, 2008 at 10:17 pm #35385parkercaParticipanthaha, ok.
February 5, 2008 at 3:47 pm #35386RayParticipantoh i don’t think it’s bait — i think ripley is always genuine and sincere (definitely holding Lucinda to a very high standard)… just a different perspective! or maybe just misunderstood.
having come close to this topic with Ripley before — i don’t mind hearing why Ripley finds this song (which i enjoy) embarrassing….
(keeps the forum interesting!)
Anyway: definitely looking forward to the new release, whatever makes the final cut!! 🙂
February 7, 2008 at 4:02 am #35387zlh67ParticipantI have to disagree that West was a disappointment or “rushed”, but that’s me. I found it to be another solid step forward with new sounds, but still close enough to the Lucinda we know and love. If anything, I thought some of the production was overdone and took a bit away from the songs (the demo version of “Where Is My Love” for example, is WAY better than what ended up on the album imo).
As for Honey Bee…. hmmm. Embarrassing? Maybe… I like it, but must admit I found the lyrics a bit…. juvenile? Crude, maybe? Or maybe it’s me with the dirty mind, but it seems VERY over the top. If you’ve heard the lyrics, I’m sure you know what I’m talking about…
That’s ok though. She’s entitled to slum it now and again since she’s more than proven she can write deep and meaningful lyrics as well, and I must admit: I kinda like hearing Lucinda talk (or sing) a little dirty!
😆I’m very much looking forward to hearing a more polished studio version, though I hope it’s not overdone because it’s a raw rocker and should stay that way!
February 7, 2008 at 3:12 pm #35388tntracyParticipantWow – awesome news, Inside Job. Thanks for the info. I can’t wait until the new CD…

February 8, 2008 at 2:38 am #35389Lucinda FiendParticipantoh my little HONEY BEE, i’m so GLAD you stung me…. la, la, la, la, la…. F#@KING “A”…..A WOMEN after my own heart!…LW is the most UNIQUE artist out there, and that is why i just go APE SHIT with what ever she does…RAW to the bone…. she is the PICASSO of musicians going from her blue period to the peace dove period….she is happy and havin’ fun…i would love to hear what JANIS (who was also always criticized for being a unique individual) would say today about LW…..groovy mann….HEY now lucinda and janis would be the ULTIMATE jailhouse tears duet…..hee-hee…
P.S. on a serious note (G#,Ab) pray for the HONEY BEE, they are truely becoming extinct! scientist’s believe the reason they are dying off in record numbers is from the poisons man is putting in the ground, just so he can have a greener lawn then the guy next door……..so get stung while you can mann, it may not be there tomorrow!!!! 😳

I just look the the floor and shake my head when I hear that song. Even in a car alone I feel embarrassed to even listen to it because it is quite frankly beneath her. Is it fun? well maybe for her it is but it’s still ridiculously juvenile and trite. I just CAN NOT get behind that song.
I don’t want to offend anyone here but it sounds like a song 45 year olds would think was hip and fun.
