Not so on “Blessed”
Her full name only appears on the spine (edge) of the case.Any comments from the FF ?
I noticed that as well. Also, since first listing it, Amazon.com has shown, and continues to show, the following as the “kissing couple” cover:
Makes me think the original covers had Lu’s name & the album title on the front cover, but the decision was made to remove them. Maybe TO can clarify for us (if he sees this)… 😉

very cool … 8)

Thanks for clearing that up, TO!

March 15, 2011 at 2:44 am #45991tntracyParticipantI like the composition of that one a lot, too. The crack in the wall, the agave plant (I think that’s what it is at any rate), the old siding on the wall in the background & finally, the messianic-looking dude dressed in all black… Cool!

March 15, 2011 at 7:35 am #45992TOverbyParticipantThat was my favorite picture also–that and the cab driver–but the problem with the first picture was that he was holding a picture of Haile Selassie the revered Jamaican leader from the 40’s who later Bob Marley and the later Jamaican rastafarians looked to as their prophet. Anyway Universal made us take out the Haile Selassie pic that he was holding for fear a lawsuit from the estate. That’s the way it goes sometimes.

Are you referring to the same cab driver that is pictured in the liner notes (first photo after the lyrics)? Was he the one holding a picture of Haile Selassie?
Tom
March 15, 2011 at 9:15 pm #45994TOverbyParticipantNo the guy holding the Selasie photo is Jesus looking guy a couple posts above -that’s why his Blessed is arched.
March 15, 2011 at 9:19 pm #45995tntracyParticipantOh, OK – so the picture of Haile Selassie was originally on his photo, but it was “whited out” in the photo that was used as one of the album covers?
And what about your “other favorite photo” of the cab driver – is that the one in the liner notes after the lyrics?
Tom
March 15, 2011 at 9:27 pm #45996TOverbyParticipantYeah I really like the one with the cab driver with his friends gambling in the background. I was voted down on that one by the boss. Should’ve fought harder for it, but I like all the ones we used.
March 15, 2011 at 11:48 pm #45997tntracyParticipantSpeaking of the liner notes photos, I also like the one of the blonde woman standing in front of the tire-rutted, muddy field. There’s something about the look in her eyes… World-weary & knowing…

Interesting bit of trivia…makes me like it even more. Which picture of Sessalie was it, do you recall?

I have a question Tom on the liner notes.
Track 12 is Kiss Like Your Kiss with Eric Liljestrand on a “Nail File Guitar”
What the heck is that ?
Google didn’t help me much on this one.lwj
March 16, 2011 at 12:35 am #46000DDixonParticipantWonder if it’s the sound at the start of the track. Sort of sounds like a guitar being lightly “bowed” with a nail file.
