Seattle favorite Lucinda Williams’ Zoo show sold out
PATRICK SEMANSKY / AP
Lucinda Williams’ deadpan, sometimes slurred vocal delivery and more than sometimes depressing songs are not everyone’s cup of tea, to be sure, but the somberly poetic, 58-year-old singer-songwriter is a Seattle favorite. Her Wednesday concert at the Woodland Park Zoo sold out long ago and her new album, “Blessed,” is getting deservedly upbeat reviews. Many of the new songs take temporary leave from heartbreak hotel to visit other neighborhoods, notably in “Born to Be Loved” and the title track, where Williams discovers that she and others are, indeed, “blessed,” if also fated.
6 p.m. Wednesday, Woodland Park Zoo, 601 N. 59th St. Seattle; sold out (206-548-2467 or http://www.zoo.org/zootunes).

Ticket sales for the 2011 TD Victoria International JazzFest are better than last year, says its artistic producer. In fact, advance sales are the best they’ve been since 2008, Darryl Mar said Wednesday.
“It’s very, very healthy,” he added, noting that headliners Lucinda Williams and Wynton Marsalis are almost sold-out.
