There’s prob a prior thread on this, but I didn’t see it. Tickets left for Sept. 26 are GA only, forty-something including fees. A two-day pass for that Friday + the next day is 80 or so, also some VIP options for a bit under two hundred. Heartless Bastards and Jackson B are Saturday.

Tom, will that Saturday be an “off night” for Lu, or another gig? A two-day pass sounds sane if the former. But I’d rather know another western Lu show is in the weekend offing.

Mr. Stoger I purchased a ticket to Friday only, as did Grumpymama. 8)

As of this morning, ticketing now allows purchase of 1-day Priority View (also the VIP Backstage Bar), for Friday only or Saturday only. Previously, you needed to purchase a 2-day pass for the up-front viewing options. Possibly, the 1-day VIP tickets will sell-out quickly, but one might infer that the 2-day VIP option was not selling up to expectations. Anyway, GA tickets are still available.

I edited the title of this post. Please post your remarks about the show here. I plan to post the setlist “live and in real time” from the show. Because I can. 8)

Thank you Stoger for allowing me to edit your post title. I will do my best tonight. Grumpymama and I will be in the VIP area, as befits our status. We will keep an eye out for Paul. 😛

Thanks, tonyg, for posting the setlist.

A pleasant hour’s show, outdoors on the breezy Santa Monica Pier. Good to meet tonyg, grumpymama, and jstreet.

Lots of room to enjoy the show, while moving in the periphery of the VIP area, or listening in the backstage (actually sidestage) bar, while overlooking the beach and ocean. I believe tonyg had a more negative experience, trying to maintain his territory closer to the stage. He may report later.

As expected, the band members were Stuart, David, and Butch; Lucinda indicated this band would play the November tour.

Thanks, you two. I knew it would be an early set, and a brief one. At least you got two new numbers. And I look forward to more from grumpytony on Paul’s hint of a “negative experience.”

The pier was a zoo but it was a pleasant night. I was going to stand back a bit but there was a space on the rail next to Grumpymama so I took up residence. Lucinda looked and sounded great. Cool large tv type screen in the back of the stage . All was well until halfway thru Ventura when there was a huge commotion behind me and I turned around to see the crowd was being parted by a man pushing a woman in a wheelchair. Keep in mind you could not have slipped a piece of paper between the throng of drunken revelers at the front, but here they came, destination front row right in front of Stuart, the precise exact spot I was occupying. Through the hysteria the woman, at least 90 years old, informs us Stuart is her son, and the resemblance was obvious so she was wheeled up to the rail, hoisted out of her chair, and propped up with her arms over the rail. The chair is folded up behind me, catching my pants leg in the foot rest part and almost de-pantsing me on the spot. Hilarity ensued. Eventually she had to sit down again in the chair, which was hastily unfolded, which nearly removed two of the toes on my right foot. That’s rock and roll for ya. Stuart’s parents were very nice and apparently they had not seen him play in person for over a decade.

The crowd enjoyed all the songs, old and new. The show ended at exactly one hour. Lucinda had an adventure leaving the stage at the rear when she tripped but was OK.

It was great to see all the band and crew, Webmasta and Mrs. W., forum members Grumpymama, Paul from Los Angeles, JStreet and Mrs. JStreet, and forum member Kathy and her husband Jim.

Ha great narrative Tony: love it. And here I thought Mr. and Mrs. Mathis Sr. resided in the town of their son (Nashville) and that I had seen them maybe once at a show. Wife and daughter yes, now that I think about it. There are worse causes than wanting to stand by grumpymama up front & stage left. Rock on.
