From Tom:
In the last few months we have played several beach towns on both the east and west coast and there is just something really great about the old venues like the Cocoanut Grove. These places all have this amazing history -many of them going back to the big band era. At times if you didn’t know better you’d swear you can almost hear those bands still playing, as if the sounds just soak into the wood and still echo thru time. Lucinda had never played the CG before and she just loved it -as all of the band and crew did. Places like that just make you feel good. And of course it had an old time mirror ball, which we couldn’t resist using. Seeing the mirror ball reflecting around the room as she played Rebel Rebel was on of those moments that almost didn’t seem real.
Unfortunately it rained all day on our off day so we had to cancel our beach blanket bingo plans. Next time.
There are more pictures to post but I had to dash off to the airport as I am traveling to the Bay Area with a dangerous rock and roll band. I hope to return alive and alert for Lu’s Sunday night show at the Troubadour. 8)
