3Right in Time
4 Drunken Angel
5 Those 3 Days
6Big Mess [with intro reference to the person who messed up Lu’s finances]
7 Compassion {Lu is becoming more expansive about her father in the intros to this one]
8 When I Look at the World
9 Cold Cold Heart [solo, though Stu walks back on and fiddles around while Lu makes a long intro referencing the time Hank met Miller–finally, he realizes this is a solo number and makes a dignified retreat to the wings]
10 Lake Charles [proudly done as a duo]
11 World Without Tears {lu makes a vague reference to something in society by way of intro]
12 Are You Down
13 Protection
14 Foolishness [even better than tucson, I think Tom would agree: more interpolations of words like “bullshit” and others–after, Lu semi-apologizes for her preachiness]
15 Changed the Locks
16 Little Rock Star [red ink immediately someone! killer version]
17 Atonement
18 Essence

24 Rockin’ in the Free WorldIt was a pleasure to stand in the company of two fine San Diego singer-songwriters: former Lu Humphrey’s opener Lisa Sanders, and wannabe future opener (I hope) Sara Petite. Even paulfromlosangeles was spotted at one point. None of the usual suspects (Gerald; Peggy; their partners) from San Diego past, but that’s OK. Hope ddinnj was out there somewhere. I think I prefer the Belly Up, as it took multiple linings up, daffy box office personnel, etc.to make it in last night; after that, the venue was pleasant. The planting of chairs seemed arbitrary, but Mama Butch Norton and her quartet of geriatric friends & neighbors were rightfully seated near soundboard throughout.
Would love to hear supplemental words from paul, dd, etc.

NIce.And nice report as per usual..
February 22, 2015 at 10:08 pm #54115tonygKeymasterGreat report Stoger. No surprise you found Sara Petite in the house. It was a good night for music in So Cal last night: Lu in San Diego, Steve Poltz at the Belly Up, and Anne McCue at the Hotel Cafe. 😀

Extremely intense Please put some high lights, ink, stars, hot sauce, or whatever on Essence We were there, right in front of the disturbance which broke out between some over-served should have known betters…….which involved ejection of the litigants during, Yup, you guessed it Drunken Angel. Frankly, the “disagreement” began during KBB and security should have hauled them out of the place. Lu played on like a pro while the first few rows joined her in singing. Agree on Foolishness Totally enjoying the extended play it Is getting. Stoger, sorry we missed you. If you are headed home, safe travels
February 23, 2015 at 5:13 am #54117tonygKeymasterFrom Tom:There have been a lot of really great shows on this run and this one was right there with the best of them. we even had the second fight (at least visible from the stage) of the tour. We changed up the setlist again and with the choices Lu made we ended up with 6 songs from World Without Tears, 3 of which made their tour debuts. Great version of Those Three Days with Lu on electric -I think we need do that one more. Another excellent version of Foolishness with Lu doing even more improvised “proselytyzing” than the night before. 5 total tour song debuts brings the count up to 66 different songs so far on this leg.
And I don’t want to fail to mention a big fantastic packed house. Thank you San Diego for always being one of the best (and favorite) places Lu plays.

I had no idea it started during the opener and carried through. But the two “D’s” from Jersey can hold their own in any brawl, I’d say. Yes, it’s “home” for me, with Tony and a guest guitarist set to carry the crowd through Troubadour I and perhaps Troubadour II as well. I’ll be back on the circuit at the appropriate time; only our moderator knows for sure. . . .

Excellent reporting stoger. Many thanks.
Someone had their video camera almost going nonstop in San Diego.
15 of the songs are posted today on You Tube.
Here’s the one with Drunken Angel ( the”fight” starts at the 2:20 mark ), Those Three Days and Big Mess.
