    From Tom:

The word “best” came up a lot last night. As in, best crowds we’ve had in Sal Lake, best venue we’ve ever played in Salt Lake ,best start of the tour, best the band has ever sounded right out of the gate—tight where it needs to be tight and loose when it needs to be loose. We stil can’t believe how great these crowds were -we’ve never had a reaction like this in Salt Lake. i think we’ve found the place to play in SLC. We will be back.
We got on the bus feeling pretty damn good – the long drive up to Montana didn’t quite as long.

    Wow!
Had been a while for me for a few Lu shows, and man did I get my fix in SLC and Boulder.

Best ever opening shows in SLC that I have ever had the privilege of attending. The band and Lu had amazing energy, fueled no doubt by the crowd. I must admit I was a little apprehensive about the venue and the crowd in the most consistently red state in the nation. Did they ever prove me wrong. Felt like I was in Portland..

The ending of Joy took me by (pleasant) surprise, followed later by
“Some people say that musicians shouldn’t get political”
“Then, What’s the f’ing point?” “What if Woody Guthrie never got political, or Dylan? Or…”

Amazing shows capped by a fantastic version of “You Can’t Always Get What You Want” which in this short run of shows for me, I most definitely did and then some.
