The first time I ever heard Lu sing was in ’06 on the Gram Parsons tribute album. It floored me. My music listening was limited to the radio since the ’70s. I love that song and David Crosby’s harmonies were spot on but Lu’s voice, so full of grit and guts and passion and beautifully lyrical, I was honestly musicly reborn. I have discovered many other exciting people in the genre since then, Thanks Lu, and of course bought everything Lucinda. Needless to say once I heard the songwriting that went with that voice, I was in love. I’ve seen her twice live, last time in an old armory building in Rochester with no seats and temps and humidity about 100. The 3rd song of the night was lonely girls which she stopped in the middle of and decided to crank it up for the rest of the night. Wow!! What an unbelieveable show. My wife says you will think I’m a stalker or something if I tell you this but, I feel something of a kinship with Lu because of how much her music touches me and also because we share the same birthday, 1-26-53. Anyway, 3-14-09 is less than 2 weeks away and the bunch of us are all very excited to see Lu.

I have this CD & love Lu’s contribution as well. The song, in fact, popped up on my iPod during random “Shuffle” play just the other day…
