Assuming KBB opened…I’ll look forward to the reports!March 1, 2015 at 3:13 pm #54144DDinNJParticipantThanks for posting the set list so quickly. Looks like it was an excellent Rockers Saturday night.
March 1, 2015 at 6:18 pm #54145tonygKeymasterAnother great show. One of the longest Lu shows in memory. It seemed like she did not want to stop playing. It was a cold rainy night. Big boisterous crowd. The Regent is your typical repurposed movie theater from a forgotten time. I met my party for dinner out in the suburbs and we dined in total darkness as the power went out at the restaurant. After cocktails at the bar next door the venue, I walked into an already crowded theater about 9:45 and whatever little temporary seating there was was already long gone. I took up residence in the so called balcony next to the bar which afforded a full view of the stage, but unfortunately the bar area was quite noisy as patrons shouted there orders at the bartenders.
Like the previous shows, the first half was mostly ballads, after the openers, and I was treated to a now rare appearance by Are You Alright. Over Time was a nice touch as well. The second half was the same rockers we have been hearing and Lu rocked out extensively. Foolishness featured an even more extended rant that also featured a naughty word for the first time. Fun. The first encore was a Robert Johnson song with only Stuart accompanying. It was a good night.
The FF was well represented by myself, Paul from Los Angeles, Grumpymama, Stellablueee, Stoger, Lafayette, and Webmasta himself. Peggy French snapped numerous photos. If you do not follow her page on Facebook you should so you can see her pictures. My visiting nephew from Pullman Washington took in his second ever Lu show.
I got to bed at 3:30 so I got that going for me as it is presently 6.5 hours after that fact.
March 1, 2015 at 6:21 pm #54146stogerParticipantYes, would have been an excellent way to start a second quarter century of matrimony, downtown LA. Lafayette and stellablue and grumpymama and tonyg’s nephew and paul in house, among others.
“Drunken Angel” had some coughs/dropped lyrics, and I don’t think Stuart played harmonica on it.
“Foolishness” ran rampant again, Lu deeming it a “political song, of sorts.”
Before “Get Right,” lu referenced both Flannery O’Connor and John Huston, urging us to buy the book Wise Blood.
The KBB, sans Lillie Mae, rocked out, including two instrumental numbers and “Welcome to AL” in closing. The boys had some van repair issues but are riding large again, road map and Gideon Bible on passenger side dash.
Lovely upright segment in midset, “Are You Alright” & “Overtime.”
Lu praised the sound.
More please, from everybody.
March 1, 2015 at 6:37 pm #54147tonygKeymasterI think Stuart attemped his harmonica part for one note before deciding he came in at the wrong time, due to confusion after the missed lyric. That’s my take from the peanut gallery anyway.
March 2, 2015 at 5:27 pm #54148GrumpyMamaParticipantImpressionable moment: The boys KILLED IT on Are You Down? They’ve been rockin’ it hard on that one for the last few shows, but for whatever reason, maybe the sound in the theater, it really stood out for me.
Also, overall, Lu seemed in the best spirits yet, especially playing to the camera for Peggy during the last several songs. As tonyg mentioned, check out her fb page PeggyFrenchPhotography – she caught a lot of good shots at the Regent.

GREAT ROCKIN’ SATURDAY -FIRST TIME PLAYING THE REGENT AND EVERYONE HAD THUMBS UP -LU LOVED THE SOUND ON STAGE. SELIST DIDN’T GO THRU FROM HOTEL SO IT HAD TO BE SENT VIA TEXT IN THE CAR ON THE WAY TO THE VENUE SO IT MADE IT. FINALLY GAVE LU THE CHANCE TO END THE REGULAR SET WITH GET RIGHT INSTEAD OF HONEY BEE -AND OF COURSE SHE STILL CHOSE HONEY BEE. WHATTA YA GONNA DO?March 7, 2015 at 5:20 am #54150LafayetteParticipantAlmost a week after the fact but checking in.
I had a wonderful time hanging with the Cali contingent AND the road warrior from the Volunteer State. Dinner in the suburbs was truly fantastic (my sister was correct in mentioning the Brazilian servers were really hot), even by flashlight/dim candlelight. The welcome mat was truly rolled out, and it was great meeting tonyg, stellablue, and again seeing grumpymama and paul. The big surprise of the night, while sipping a drink pre show with the Cali contingent around the corner from the venue, was watching stoger stroll in. He informed me a few weeks prior he wouldn’t be making it to the shows. I was so happy to see him!
As mentioned, the venue was fine. I thought the sound was good, it wasn’t so hot inside I was uncomfortable, and the guys working check in were very helpful. So much for the disgruntled YELP reviews.
WOWZA on the setlist. So perfect for me to hear Are You Alright? Incredible show.
Thanks, again, y’all for the hospitality.
March 7, 2015 at 5:49 am #54151LafayetteParticipantOh, one more addition.
I can’t remember after which song Lu was mulling, out loud, that entire ‘finding a category to fit her in,’ but she surmised she should be considered a ‘rocker’ or ‘rock n roller.’
I concur.
