Wake up Stoger. What’s the morning news?

Reports from behind the Iron Curtain were faster than this. Maybe he is writing an epic review. Maybe the show is still going on. ❗

The well-versed stoger is probably on an Amtrak train or a Greyhound bus, proceeding slowly north from Redding towards Vancouver. He apparently has no internet access. We must be patient…

It would seem that Paul is more on target here than the ever-impatient (and bean-spilling as to last night’s percussion surprise: geez) Tonyg. However. . .

1 Side of the Road (with a suited man-in-black-looking Pettibone only)
2 People Talkin’ (Lu can’t wait to introduce Brady Blades, doing so seconds after the boys’ walk-on–good to see Doug back in full throat on those two brief background vocal stints)
3 Drunken Angel (Blaze talk prior)
4 Lake Charles (much Clyde talk, down to the Saltines and Dixie beer and boudan (sp.?): Doug finds the pedal steel after discarding two other instruments
5 I Look at the World [ramped up from Youtube Big Sur to full instrumentation, no false starts, beautiful and still having a slight gospel strain to it, I’d say]
    6 Born to Be Loved
7 Bitter Memories [or is it singular? No matter, it’s rockabillied and honkytonked up to satisfaction]
    8 Out of Touch
9 Protection [new new–after, Lu announces she’s ready to go into studio with it: She plays the same guitar on it as the rockers to follow, and it’s fast-paced, using an “enemy of ___” lyrical hook to portray the frail yet willful narrator–limited words and verses, but effective repetition]
10 REal Live. . . {Brady is slow to start it, so Lu begins telling the P Westerberg background but is cut off, then saying “I’ll save that story for my memoirs”]
11 Come On [after, Lu notes front row empty seats and theorizes that there is either a bar out back (kind of) or that the “rich people” got first dibs on those (not really, media/handicap I find out later): a few people move on up, which pleases her]
    12 Essence
    13 Righteously
14 Ain’t My Cross to Bear
    15 Changed the Locks
    16 Joy
    17 Honeybee

18 Blessed [soundman James’ computer crashes early, but Lu plays through those few seconds]
    19 Hard Time Killing…
    20 For What It’s Worth
21 Get Right with God [tour man. Eric urges people up to dance]

    More soon

Awesome report! Patience is not one of my virtues. I think the substance she refers to is boudin. Some kind of New Oreals thing. Where did you sit?

Correct spelling on the cajun sausage, not on the city, but we get your drift tonyg… 😉

And, I can speak from experience (as can Lafayette, stoger, West Words and, of all people, Linford Detweiler & Karen Bergquist of Over The Rhine fame) that Lu, despite her fondness for waxing nostalgic about boudin, no longer cares to eat it. But I tried it that night in, of all places, Bloomington, IN (thanks to a pit stop with Lafayette at Jungle Jim’s International Market near Cincinnati prior to our trekking over to Bloomington) and can attest to its saltiness and, well, for lack of a better word, “bloodiness” (look up the ingredients of boudin noir – we also had some boudin blanc for sampling, both with the requisite Nabisco Premium saltine crackers). Too bad I had quit drinking alcohol by then, so I could not wash it down with the Dixie beer we also found at Jungle Jim’s. But, in all honesty, I thought it was fairly tasty… 😉

P.S. Thanks for the report, stoger – good to see your footnoted setlists grace the FF’s pages once again…

You’ll make an English prof. yetTNTracy: I too noticed the city misspelling, and apologies to all for my own food misspelling. And for the record, I found the stuff tasty too.

I sat by none other than Mike from Seattle, not his exact forum handle but close. We were nicely in second row, stage Pettibone, and truly row one was almost deserted all the way across. He has been in that cabin he once mentioned in Forum, no wireless access (so give him hell tony). Nice family of wife and young daughter too (she really perked up during “Out of Touch”). I didn’t meet others, but I hope we can get some more postings about aspects of the Redding show. Meanwhile, on to Canada, where Mike among others will be there too.

Dang! “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.”

When I first posted the “boudin anecdote”, I included you in the list of “witnesses” to said event, stoger. Then, moments later, as I walked our dogs for the final time this evening, I decided that you were, after all, not there, and changed my post when I got back inside by removing you from the list. I think my confusion stemmed from the fact that Lafayette & I drove there separately, then met you in Bloomington. (As did West Words, you may be thinking, yet I managed to remember her – probably due to another memorable event, at least in my mind, from the same night… 😉 )

With humblest of apologies, my friend, please note I have gone back and re-edited the post to add you back to the list of boudin-samplers present that night…

Nice to meet you there Roger and what a great show!
Really looking forward to the next album after being privileged to hear the few new songs in concert for the first time. The Bitter Memory song had a real “Cash” feel to it to me and I loved it.

My six year old daughter Kristina (as opposed to my 30 year old one..long story) loved the show, as did my wife, Michelle.. After several 100+ degree days and two concerts at the Cascade Theatre she
(and her good behavior) barely made it through to the last song….but, she held up really well, considering.

I love that she has become a real fan of Lu’s music and we have been fortunate to attend so many concerts as we have planned a few family vacations around her concerts. Most of the concerts with her have been outdoor venues as it is much easier to enjoy.
    Like tomorrows in Vancouver!!

Hope to track you down there and perhaps get more of a chance to chat and make intro’s…
Home for a few hours and then on to the great white north and looking forward to needing a light jacket for the show(s)!

Thx for the excellent follow up reports fellers. Have fun in the great white north.

I was so dizzy with excitement over the boudin spelling that I mispelled the city. 😳

Great reports and killer set list. I cannot wait to see Doug wailing once again with the band.

Aaaah, the Lake Charles intro has made it back into painting the words and music behind Lake Charles. I can attest that I know nothing about the taste of boudin [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boudin]. Bloody sausage was just not for me. However, Tom and I sure had fun shopping at Jungle Jim’s International Market [http://www.junglejims.com/] for said items. According to the boudin wiki page, perhaps Cajun Boudin would have been a better choice – popular in Lafayette & Lake Charles.

Thanks to all the road warriors. I love show updates.
