This was a post by Anne on Facebook re: Audrey’s passing:
Audrey Auld: Larger than life, fire and rain, halcyon and hurricane.
I spent all week thinking about Audrey because I was travelling through Texas on pretty much the same route we had travelled together a few years ago. I was reflecting on how much I had learnt from Audrey about the road and about being your own person – who cares what people think; and play your music despite the music business! Put your head down and do the work, all else will follow.
We had the same quest – finding some truth and meaning in existence. We listened to Eckart Tolle’s ‘A New Earth’ and John O’Donohue’s ‘Anam Cara’ (True Friend) together on those long trips. We witnessed a terrible accident on Highway 59 which affected us profoundly.
Like all strong connections, it could be rocky, fiery, fierce, and loving. She knew there was a better me somewhere in that lost lamb and she told me so and although it hurt, she was right. She didn’t stand on ceremony. The expression ‘larger than life’ never fit so well.
This week I must have sensed her imminent journey, she was so on my mind and I spoke of her several times to others along the way. I’m glad she and Mez went back to the beach for her last days in this manifestation.
Life and death are the great mysteries. Living NOW is key. Audrey really LIVED. She lives on in our minds and hearts forever as those we love do.
Mez Mezera, Audrey was lucky to find you, you are so loved! Xoxoxoxo
