Interesting to see the 3 “Tears…Cry…Tears” songs strung together. Is that a usual thing ❓

What is more intriguing is whether the slash mark in the setlist means she abandoned “Reason to Cry” (which hadn’t been performed in awhile, certainly not on this tour) for “Overtime” (which she had played the night before in Maine) without finishing “Reason.” And Lafayette, did you know Mellencamp once recorded “Lafayette”–and not a bad version either? The night he trots that one out live might be the night to get back on the touring bandwagon. . . .

Yes, I know that Mellencamp recorded “Lafayette” which is exactly why I chose that user name ;-). I’m a Mellencamp fan and have been since 1980. I know from the John Cougar Mellencamp thread there are a few that are unhappy to see Lucinda on his tour and I can respect that. However, his cover of “Lafayette” is what led me to her music. I flipped when I heard she was opening this tour as I have been wanting to see her for quite some time now.
Can’t answer the question about abandoning “Overtime” since I’m not all that familiar with her catalog but I can tell you she performed a stellar set.

July 12, 2008 at 7:21 pm #36063LafayetteParticipantThanks stoger!I am going to two more shows, Detroit on Friday, July 17 and Cincinnati on Wednesday, July 23 so, yes, I will keep you posted!
I was fortunate enough to get both set lists from the Philadelphia show and Jones Beach.
I got some decent pictures of her, just a few, at Jones Beach as the show started earlier, the venue was an open air one (lighting was better). How does she feel about being photographed by fans at shows? Is it distracting for her? JM use to absolutely despise it but has now lifted his policy and encourages pictures and videotaping with simple digital cameras, specifially for posting on YouTube. I’d be happy to try to get some video footage but not sure how she or management feels about it. I have front row seats for Detroit so I’ll be right there.
