Any Patti Smith fans on this Forum ?
Here is an interesting comparison with Lucinda. I agree hands down-Lucinda but I also like Patti’s music.

Who’s a more revered singer/songwriter: Patti Smith or Lucinda Williams?
Who is a better/greater, more acclaimed singer/songwriter or poet? Both are very well regarded, while Smith is regarded as a the “godmother of punk” and a music innovator, Williams was declared “America’s Best Songwriter” in 2002 by Time Magazine and has won 3 Grammy Awards. Smith was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007. Williams has sold more records, though, like Smith, was never considered a commercial artist. Both continue to record, tour and write. Who has the edge at the end of the day? For me, its … Lucinda Williams. For me, she continues to be more productive artistically than Patti Smith and is continually taking her career to greater artistic heights. Both are awesome, both are inspiring women of rock and roll. What’s your take?

For those Patti Smith fans ( besides me ) who have Sirius / XM satellite and want to listen to her on New Year’s Eve, Patti is doing her annual concert live from The Bowery Ballroom in NYC.

I love both, but Lucinda of course. But then again, this is a Lucinda Williams forum. Try asking this question on a Patti Smith forum, I’m sure you’ll get the opposite reaction.
