I don’t know pdl if you can call this trivia, but this video was produced as follows:
LUCINDA WILLIAMS Passionate Kisses (1989 US Rough Trade 1-track promotional only NTSC format VHS video manufactured by PDR Productions, housed in a library case with custom printed studio labels).

thank you. i just wish to know more about its origins. the video was produced years before the grammy, so it’s a bit of a coincidence, like why this song and not other just as – or more – hit-worthy-material (i just wanted . . .)? who thought of it: lucinda, the record company, or both?
can’t believe no one that interviews lucinda mentions about this videoclip. questions waiting to happen.
what was like to record a videoclip? did you enjoy it? where did you get the lizards? the lizard thing was whose idea? why just this one?
Passionate Kisses is obviously the best choice for a hit video from the s/t album… has she made any other music videos?
As I recall there really isn’t that much of a back story. Basically RT felt they needed a video for Passionate Kisses and they needed to do it on the cheap. I believe it was all done in a day or two and I think the lizards were Lucinda’s idea -although it has nothing to do with her tattoo which she got 14 years later.
Lucinda has no other official videos although we have just done an animated video for Copenhagen which should be premiering in the next couple of weeks. It was done by the same animators who do the Squidbillies show.

maybe big red sun blues, too. nevermind, i’m weird, i’m the guy who thinks it’s not THAT inappropriate that the american label of the zombies released as a first single of their goddamnamazing ODYSSEY AND ORACLE album the song BUTCHER’S TALE (instead of every other digestible, adorable, sunny, stunning song on that record). gutsy choice.

It looks like it might debut at Rolling Stone.com but that’s still being discussed. I can say that it will be interesting to see the response to this video, as I don’t think it’s going to be what might be expected.

Well, there’s for sure more material to make more videos on there, many good candidates, but i think Passionate Kisses Stands out, sorry 😥

this person uploaded some incredible videos recently: bobbie gentry, randy newman, john sebatsian, xtc, van morrison, kate mcgarrigle, r&l thompson. jeez, thank you, friend.
