Excellent. I’ll bet Jill Sobule’s set with Doug accompanying was great. I’ve seen her Hendrix bit. It’s hilarious.

very compelling, even more so because i’m always underwhelmed by those newspaper reports. or maybe it’s because the author gets the ‘somnambulant quality’ of 2 kool. alas, not in the good way.

A few addenda: despite an insipid local introduction some 20 minutes before the walk-on, including such quotes as “You can either let the music wash over you or listen to the words,” this was one of the best shows in months. Maybe ever. As Lu herself said a quarter of the way into it, “When mama’s happy, everybody’s happy.”

I missed most of Jill’s set but caught Doug on pedal for her last song, talked with her briefly after at the mass “aftershow” which required no badge to attend. And I must say, chalk up gratis food for me for time number three–a chef roaming the area, refilling the bins of sandwiches and casserole and gourmet popcorn and such.

Lu was again “humbled” by the surroundings, resort inclines and craggy peaks and so on. I myself ascended the funicular circa 12:20 a.m. to join my friends Tom and Christina for a post-nightcap nightcap.

All cylinders, what can I say? And perhaps in an unlikely setting, glitzy Park City. Yet most of the crowd was way into it, especially by standing end. Lucinda was booked into a gritty club called Harry O’s in summer of 2002, yet had to cancel. She’s played last night’s venue once since, though this was my first time to hear her actually go on in Park City.

On to the Land of Enchantment. . .

Interesting comment from Lu re perhaps changing the title of “Protection”, Roger..

Wish I had the lyrics, but as I recall it seems tough to call it anything but.
I also recall she worked the word “righteous” into it (as in “righteous enemy” (??)

Sounds funny, but Lucinda has honestly helped me appreciate and use that word more.
My feeling now is, any variation of “righteous” in a Lu song, is a sure sign of a classic Lu song..

“Enemy of” would be an alternative title, Mike, clunky as that might be–she does repeat those two words mucho. We’ll see if she pens another verse for it down the line. . . .
