I believe the song your wondering about is a Howlin’ Wolf song called Come To Me Baby which includes the line “slide a little love to me”. She did record it in 1998 for a Tribute To Howlin’ Wolf record on Telarc Records. Your question however has raised another question that I will be looking into. Telarc apparently used the song again in 2000 for a record called A Salute To Chicago Blues Masters. The interesting thing is that judging from the 30 second clips they are different mixes and possibly different recordings as the 1998 version is 3:11 and the vocals are heavily reverbed. The 2000 version is 5:45 and with no reverb on the vocal (or very little) -This could be an error at allmusic.com but either way the clips are different parts of the song and definitely sound different.
To answer the second part of your question she still does the song albeit very rarely and hasn’t done it for quite awhile – and I believe it does appear on at least one bootleg that i’ve seen.
Thanks so much. My memory might have been a little impaired but that is indeed the song. It has been in the back of my mind for almost fifteen years and it is so gratifying to finally identify it. And thanks for the link. Seeing as I have seen Lucinda many times when she has come to the SF Bay Area I can’t believe I missed that show at Slims. For years I have been calling out for Hot Blood and have only received a whimsical smile from the stage so it is good to finally hear it performed live. Thanks again for making my day.
