1 I Just Wanted to See You So Bad [punctuated by two different cough interludes, culminating in a profanity-laced anti-Nashville diatribe, semi-retracted 90 minutes later when Lu finds out that Chet Lyster’s grandmother is in the house]

3 I Lost It
4 Crescent City
5 Big Red Sun Blues
6 Well Well Well
7 Tears of Joy
8 If Wishes Were Horses [!!!!!!!!!!!!!!]
9 Jackson
10 Are You Alright [preceded by almost interminable huddling and conferencing: Lu announces that while “it’s not very professional” to abandon the setlist, she intends to do so]
11 Unsuffer Me [fantastic]
12 Drunken Angel
13 Pineola
14 Out of Touch
15 Essence
16 Real Live Bleeding Fingers & Broken Guitar Strings

22 The Things That I Used to Do
23 It’s a Long Way to the TopMy fly-by-night Oklahoma City plans to nab a motel walking distance to the venue and lead in with a drink at an adjacent eatery were thwarted this night when I scouted out the place in early evening: a roadhouse/warehouse sort of joint with a huge gravel parking lot, located on a rural two-lane heading south out of town. “Ballroom” indeed. But I enjoyed the grit of it all, fans who were into it though not huge in number. It was a privilege to meet “ParkerinCA” and also a Dallas fan I remembered, after the show.
Tour manager Eric provided a Buick 6 introduction which involved siren sounds emanating from a megaphone; actually, he introduced guitar tech Nick, who in turn introduced the “instrumental stylings” of the boys.
Susannah had not one, but two, local minions assisting her at merch booth, well deserved I thought. 25 minutes after Buick 6 ended and shortly before Lu, Susannah could be seen scampering lickety-split across the stage, returning a couple of minutes later with a cardboard box in tow.
So the tour went out with a bang, as Lu had righted herself (more than) by main set’s end. I managed good-byes to, among others, the three drivers: English back to Nashville eventually after his California drop-off; James to north Mississippi eventually; and the truck driver whose name I forget into the night as well. Hard workers all, and as Lu said in Kansas City, time for everyone to return to their “significant others.” So until our German and Benelux friends file their reports. . .
June 19, 2009 at 4:25 pm #39954parkercaParticipantI totally missed “Drunken Angel”.
It was nice meeting you Stoger. Wish I could have made it to Columbia to have met more of us forum people.
Diamond Ballroom is in the middle of nowhere. Quite a ways from downtown OKC.
June 19, 2009 at 4:39 pm #39953tonygKeymasterGreat reports Stoger. I hope you are going to Europe otherwise we are in big trouble. You should be our imbedded reporter over there too.
I tried to get tickets to the Greek Theater Elvis Costello show on 8/18 but by the end of the first day only nosebleed seats were available so I passed.

WELL, I PROBABLY GOT IT WRONG, QUITE POSSIBLE. WASN’T THE SONG BEFORE “PINEOLA” FROM CAR WHEELS THOUGH? DO YOU RECALL A DIFFERENT ONE? PLEASE AMEND, PARKER.

June 19, 2009 at 5:25 pm #39956DreamingManParticipantThis is funny. I just posted a setlist and and review, which was supposed to be short. HA! I missed Drunken Angel … I think it got skipped and I forgot Car Wheels … when typing, but remeber it now. It must have been when the gay girls were having the cat fight.
O.K. folks you have two setlists now 😮
If I can attach a pic I show what I saw on the way to the “Ballroom”. What am I thinking … something about big balls in cowtown 😆
Well, hell that didn’t work. I may try again this w/e to attach a pic.
June 19, 2009 at 6:12 pm #39957parkercaParticipantI saw two women on a bench arguing, drunk as hell. One fell down and pee’d all over herself and practically left a trail to the door.
June 19, 2009 at 6:42 pm #39958navelsParticipantThanks for posting the setlist. That was the first time I’ve seen Lucinda live. I have been listening to her for a couple of years and knew she was a terrific songwriter and an emotional performer, but I was not expecting such kick-ass rock and roll. One of my favorite concerts ever.

June 19, 2009 at 10:32 pm #39959Disco StuParticipantIf Wishes Were Horses is probably my single most-wanted song I’ve never seen live…nice.
June 19, 2009 at 11:29 pm #39960parkercaParticipantIf Wishes Were Horses was soo good. I think that and “Jackson” were my favorites last night.
June 20, 2009 at 12:46 am #39938Smokin JoeParticipantHi Kids… My Name is Smokin Joe…
Anyways… That’s for the setlist… There was a tune in the opening 3 or 4 songs that became a new favorite… Me and my friend made sure to grab us a few cds…
I work and live around the corner from the Diamond Ballroom, where she played… First. I am a little upset with us Okies that we did not have a better turnout. Why I do not know… I do know that me and my club have been playing her music alot.. and I pushed the show in my club… Please don;t hold it against me, but I am a DJ in a strip CLub, been one for a long long time…… anyways.. When you get the girls diggin on her music, that’s a good thing.
I do know that not too much advertising of the show went on, and the DB is mostly know as a heavy metal venue… It is nice that the DB and out local Classic Rock station picked up on her show, and I hope that the DB starts carrying more and better bands…
Back to Lucinda… She brought it to the table baby.. and did not dissappoint. And talk about a tight band… They all had it together… Anyways… What a great show.. and I hope that Lucinda returns to OKC again, and that she was not dissappointed in us here for a low turnout…
Loved the Boots and the spurs… Lucinda Looked good last night…
I tried really hard to get a Lucinda Poster from the DB.. Would have been great in the shop with the harley, but they were all gone.
Again, Thanks for the setlist…
Smokin Joe…
and Lucinda, if you read this… OKC luvs ya… Come back soon.

June 20, 2009 at 5:53 am #39942LafayetteParticipantIf “Wishes Were Horses”!!??! Did TNT change his call on best song of the tour with this setlist?
Stoger, I am so glad you will be over in Europe for the tour, hoping you have some type of internet access to keep us informed. Seriously, I so look forward to your reports, actually, everyone’s reports.
Smokin Joe, if you private message me, I can hook you up with a Lu poster. BTW, you don’t, by chance, twitter? 😆 I saw a profile page that looks a lot like you, tweeting about this show…
