OK, I thought it would be a “good thing” to have an “official” thread for collecting all the tidbits of info that trickle out over the next several weeks regarding the tracks to be included on Blessed. If, that is, folks “in the know” like TOverby and WebMASTA who have already heard the master in its entirety will indulge the fans by letting us piece it together in dribs & drabs as opposed to their outright posting the entire track listing from the get-go… 😉
So far, I do believe, we have the following possibilities:
1. Blessed
2. Copenhagen
3. Seeing Black
4. Port Arthur
5. Travesty
6. CompanionThese are in no particular order, other than the one in which they came to my mind. #1 is “official”, I suppose, as Lu posted that it was the title track when she disclosed the album name on Facebook yesterday.
I remember hearing before about #2 & #3 somewhere, but can only find “after the fact” references here in the forum – does anyone remember the source for these? I want to remember that one of them was a tribute to Frank Callari. However, when stoger was visiting me week before last, I couldn’t find the original source for these two. Facebook, perhaps?
#4, originally called “Difficult Child”, was written by Lu for & performed at the Janis Joplin Tribute show at the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame – I seem to remember it was mentioned back then that it could very well end up on “the new album”.
Finally, #5 & #6 were mentioned by Lu on Facebook a while back in conjunction with the David Lee Powell case in Texas.
Any others that I’ve missed?

TomExcellent “track listing” tnt. I have fingers crossed “Port Arthur” makes the cut.
The source you are looking for is an article posted here in the forum (I think I posted it). Here is the link and the info you are searching.

Since wrapping up her contribution to the soundtrack, Williams is hard at work writing and recording her next album, which is slated for fall release. She says the as-yet-untitled disc will include tracks like “Copenhagen” (about her late-manager Frank Callari’s heart attack) and “Seeing Black,” a tribute to the late singer-songwriter Vic Chesnutt
August 3, 2010 at 2:24 am #43966LafayetteParticipantAs I recall, Lu posted on her FB offering “Companion” as a download with proceeds going to the fallen police officer’s family. I was under the impression it would be offered only in that format, but I may have misunderstood.

Yes, that’s correct – I remember now that you mention it. We’ll place that one in the “doubtful” list…
Thanks for the link to the source article on the other two, Lafayette!

When you arrive on the home page, there are moving pictures.
One of them has lyrics written on the paper –
Here is what I’ve been able to lift from it so far:
In the awakening, in the awakening,
I will pray for nothing,
I will stand up till the end.I will say what I want to,
I will not make amends. There’s more, and I’ll get to it when I’m awake, or please feel free to toss in the words you catch.
Ooooooh, can’t ya just feel that this album is going to be extra special?! 😀 😀
Thanks! SandyAugust 3, 2010 at 10:22 am #43969thejolo1980Participantdont forget “kiss like your kiss”. i remember hearing somewhere that it might show up on the album possibly as a solo version.
August 3, 2010 at 8:53 pm #43970parkercaParticipantDo we know how many tracks are on “Blessed”?

Not that I know of…

Travesty will not be on this record -she wrote the words very late in the recording and didn’t have it quite worked out so it was not recorded. Companion also has not been recorded yet-we are still figuring out how to do it but it most likely will be a digital only track.August 4, 2010 at 2:35 am #43973punchdrunkloveParticipantkiss like your kiss solo sounds way nice.
and i wonder if “seeing black” is like “seeing red” only worse…
August 11, 2010 at 4:08 am #43974tntracyParticipantWell, the “speculation” is officially over… 😉
