Can someone tell me about these CD’s? Do they contain the info about the inspiration of each song?

Hope this helps.Look at the lower right text “NEW YORK AND LOS ANGELOS RECORDINGS AVAILABLE NOW IN THE OFFICIAL RECORDINGS STORE” That will take you to the selection of the live concert performances of her best 5 albums.
And yes she does an intro of each song, some more detailed than others, about what the song is about, the people that inspired, produced, covered it, or helped her write it, and how her father (poet Miller) reacted to some of the songs.
My first exposure to Lucinda was with her self titled album, so the El Ray Theatre version is the first one I bought. One of my favorite songs on that album is “Like a Rose”, so I was thrilled to hear her get to the end of a great performance of that song and say “You know what, we did that song in the wrong key. We have to do it over again” and she proceeded to sing it again even better than the first time.
I’ve bought three of them so far, and I already know I’m going to get at least one of each album, if that tells you anything about the quality of the performances and recordings.

I’d really like to hear these performances. Both sets would be a bit over the top though, – so wich one to by ? NY or LA, anyone ?
I picked up the LA CD’s at a show in Lowell MA. I really didn’t know anything about the differences between the two sets, but the merch guy recccomended the LA ones

Does anyone care to elaborate on the differences ? Why do you lean toward the left coast performances, Lefty ? What about the artwork/pakcaging ? I love when one has put real effort into it.
The packaging doesn’t have a jewel case. It is printed card stock with the cd in a clear plastic tray.
It’s really nice.
LA shows just seem to have a little bit more energy to them. It isn’t a HUGE difference, but enough to favor one set over another.Hopefully sometime they offer a full show of just the West album and Little Honey. That would be sweet!

The first of the NY/LA live shows I bought was the LA version of Lucinda Williams which is just great. The rest of the group I bought the NY version, being an east coaster. They are all really good. I’ve heard the general sentiment that the LA versions are better, but honestly the NY sets are very good. I don’t think you can go very wrong with either selection.
