Stoger checks in with his timely remarks:
A very long intro graced “Big Black Train”–to the point that Lu caught Butch “noodling” on the kit and decided finally to start the song. The talk included her struggling to get “Pineola” approved years ago for live playing on a Nash daytime talk show, whose other guests included the “Up With People crowd.”
“hum’s liquor” was for Tommy Stinson of the Replacements,, who was in the audience and actually plays on it on the studio version.
“Ventura” was lovely, and afterwards Lu opined that it might not go over well with the Up with People crowd.
“unsuffer Me” was dedicated to old friend Susan Osborne, who was present.
In the absence of Springsteen, Doug Pettibone sure does make a good Boss on those background vocals on #2 and #12.
Loose Cattle played “Crescent City” in their opening set!!!!!!!!!!!!
