Man, Paul – you’re good. I just checked yesterday & there was nothing new…

WOO HOO!!! An Atlanta date at the Variety Playhouse at the end of February!! I mentioned this venue to Tom in another thread several months ago – I don’t know if this is coincidence or not, but I’m pumped. The VP is an old converted movie theater in a funky area called Little Five Points. It has seating (the old cushy movie theater fold up seats) in the back 3/4 of the center of the floor and in the balcony, and then an open area up front by the stage and on the sides of the floor. At least, it’s been that way for nearly every show I’ve seen there save for one – Cowboy Junkies had temporary seating all the way to the stage up front. But, I don’t think it’ll be that way for Lu – at least I hope not! 😉

    Hmmm, and New Orleans – that’s only a 10 hour drive… 😈

Good for you Tom. I’m about ready for another Lucinda show myself.

This reply especially for Tom (tntracy). For February 28 in Atlanta, I notice that High Road Touring specifies the Variety Playhouse, but Ticketmaster lists the Tabernacle, with sales beginning Friday, 12/12.

Thanks for the heads up, Paul. You’re indeed right & tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10:00 AM according to TM. Of course, I’m getting a pair regardless of the venue, but it is nice to see that the tickets are available tomorrow morning. I also need to get some tickets to Kathleen Edwards tomorrow as well…

Sounds like a roadtrip. Hotlanta here we come. I have heard good things about both venues, but I think I would prefer The Tabernacle. I hope LW comes back to Nashville later next year. 😀

Whichever venue it really is (and it’s certainly looking like the Tabernacle which means High Road Touring’s post is a mistake), I’m going for sure ’cause I just bought tickets.

Thanks again for the heads-up on this one Paul, I probably would have missed it for a few more days at least (not that it would have sold-out that quickly, but you never know). So, are you and / or stoger coming to Atlanta?

Tom, Well, I can’t speak for paul in los angeles (though I am pretty clear on the issue of whether he is going to Australia), but as for me and my house (of one), we’re Atlanta-bound. Is there a Sheraton bar hard by the Tabernacle so we can reprise our Nashville pre-show? I’m sure there’s an equivalent. Guess the Tabernacle survived that tornado damage after all. Let’s go let’s go

BoB will be at the PA show…only 3.5 hours away!

I’m not sure about Atlanta. I might just ration my money, and spend the following weekend in New York City, with a Saturday night in beautiful Montclair, New Jersey. The renovated Wellmont Theater reads well in the reviews.

Bob, keep your hopes up for the Calvin theatre!

Bob, on a second thought; I’m going to take my boxing gloves out of storage just in case Lucinda and the band come back to the Orpheum.

No bar quite as convenient as in Nashville, but there is a Ted’s Montana Grill (restaurant w/ beer & wine) a block or so away, and then, of course, CNN Center 2 blocks away (lots of choices). As we get close to the date, I’ll PM you my cell number so we can meet up if you’d like.

Yes, the Tabernacle survived the tornado yet sustained a lot of broken windows from my understanding. I have not seen it since the storm myself, so I am looking forward to checking it out.

…or maybe the Variety Playhouse. 😉

Pollstar.com just listed Lucinda as playing the Variety Playhouse as does High Road Touring, while Ticketmaster continues to stubbornly sell tickets to a show the same night at the Tabernacle. I have a theory. At approximately 1100 capacity, the Variety Playhouse will be the venue if ticket sales do not exceed that number. On the other hand, if they do, the venue will be the Tabernacle, which holds about 2500. I don’t know how long there would be this flexibility until a commitment to one venue or the other would have to be made, but this is what I think is going on for the time being.
