Last week I did an A-B comparison of the original RT vinyl that I purchased on the first day of its release (I had it on pre-order from my local indie store, the only copy the store initially ordered) with the translucent red re-release. On my all tube electronics and Magneplanar speakers I found little difference. That said, the ’88 sounds just a tad more raw, the ’14 sounds a bit more rounded at the very top end, bass feels fuller on the ’14, but more realistic on the ’88. In other words, get the new one if you don’t already have it on vinyl. While I have not A-B-ed the CDs or CD-vinyl, the CD sounds quite good as well.

You did read the post by “trane” on page four of this thread, right lafayette? I don’t ask if you comprehended it. I just ask whether you made your way through/past it.

January 24, 2014 at 8:26 pm #52003LafayetteParticipantPhew. I thought it was just me. Have a nice weekend, lefty!
January 24, 2014 at 8:52 pm #52004Jack1956ParticipantI also tested the new vinyl album. First I lit some candles and turned on my lava lamp. I turned off the overhead lights. I poured myself some Patron on the rocks, with fresh limes. Rolled up a number with some bits of hashish. Hit play. And you know what? This record sounds damn good to me!
January 25, 2014 at 5:01 pm #52005coffee4throadParticipantwow, best buy has sure gone down the tubes.
went over there this morning to pick up the remaster w/ the live show bonus cd and they had nothing at all by Lucinda in the whole doggone store!
ridiculous!January 25, 2014 at 6:43 pm #52006stogerParticipant@coffee4throad wrote:

ridiculous! It’s a post-Overby era at that retail firm, clearly. Not that I’m upset TO is no longer a Best Buy employee: I think we can say he found his calling.
January 26, 2014 at 9:55 am #52007AnonymousInactiveDownloaded the iTunes-version yesterday. Terrific! The album that (solemn but true) has changed my life, enriched with heart-touching live-recordings… lucky me…
Today: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO LUCINDA WILLIAMS!!!January 29, 2014 at 1:37 pm #52008LWjettaParticipantCrescent City 2014 re-write maybe in view of January’s frigid weather even in the deep south.
Original words.
This town has said what it has to say
Now I’m after that back highway
And the longest bridge I’ve ever crossed
Over PontchartrainFrom today’s news.
The Lake Pontchartrain Causeway is closed in both directions due to icing on the span. The decision to close the bridge came around 1:15 p.m.
But bridge General Manager Carlton Dufrechou said the decision was made to close the bridge when icy conditions led to vehicles spinning out.
The closure game just moments after Dufrechou said the bridge was still open, but that anyone who wanted to cross should hurry to get there.
The temperature of the bridge was about 30 degrees with light rain at about 12:30 p.m., Dufrechou said. Ice was hanging from the signs on the 24-mile span.Warmer weather will be on the way we hope.
