Happy New Year folks.
Just noticed Amazon Canada shows a release date for the re-release one week earlier-Jan. 7,2014.
Must be a goof.lwj

January 16, 2014 at 1:59 am #51983Jack1956ParticipantI must be the only person that has yet to receive this, and I pledged within hours of it going live(for the signed cds and vinyl).
January 16, 2014 at 3:14 am #51984TraneParticipantI bought the download today, but as I really REALLY do love Lu and her Music…this record in particular…I am so sorry to say that I’m much disappointed.
Not by the music, of course, but by the quality of the sound. Why on earth did you compress the life out of it ? It’s screaming LOUD, but deader than a mummy. I’m sure it sounds great when listening on cheap earbuds, but not if you prefer good loudspeakers.
It has a dynamic range (DR) value of 9, which is pretty bad. By comparison the 1998 Koch reissue has a DR value of 13 ! (Actually as high as DR 14 if you calculate the 12 official tracks to make it fully comparable to the 12 tracks of disc 1 of the anniversary edition.)
I’ll stick with my Koch reissue. Hell, I’d rather play my old cassette that I bought way back in 1988 !Is the same shitty master used for the 180g vinyl edition ? Or was a seperate master made for it give a more analog sounding quality ?
I’m really sorry for writing such a negative comment on this much anticipated reissue, but the truth is we…fans and customers…deserve better. And most of all the music deserves to be treated better.

9:56 a.m. CT Plant body curbside on corner of 6th & Lamar, Austin TX
10:00 Observe from a respectable distance as the Waterloo Records doors are propped open
10:01 Nab two copies of the CD from the shelves right in front of the main door
10:03 Check out and rip cellophane off copy #1
10:05 Take mini-CD player out of backpack, cue up disc #1, insert “cheap earbuds” about my facial person
10:07 Stroll back east on 6th St. in sonic and poetic bliss
January 16, 2014 at 2:54 pm #51986AnonymousInactiveNice story! Unfortunately no bliss for me: release-date in Germany is February 14 🙁
Maybe a Christina Martin-concert can give consolation tonight. I didn’t know this Canadian songwriter yet, but she has been compared to L.W., Kathleen Edwards and Tift Merritt. Sounds promising.January 16, 2014 at 7:53 pm #51987LWjettaParticipantCongratulations Lucinda, Tom O and the rest of the troupe to produce such a fine deluxe double CD.
The transistion from Mr. Wakeman’s warning comments ” These are Masters ! Please handle with Care “on the back cover of the liner notes pays high compliments to the re-mastering that was achieved. So, now I have the Koch re-issue, this re-re-issue, the live CD from El Rey 9/10/2007, the original bootleg from Eindhoven and the rebroadcast of the 3rd & Lindsley Lightning 100 web site. That’s a lot of S/T to enjoy.
I particularly like Lu’s between song banter on the live recordings.lwj
EDIT for the co-moderators and Mr. WebMaster I wanted to upload a couple parts of the liner notes to this thread but no go. Are the Gremlins still about ?January 16, 2014 at 10:29 pm #51988tonygKeymasterI’m not aware of any gremlin activity (says the gremiln disguised as tonyg). 😐
January 18, 2014 at 12:40 am #51989parkercaParticipantI ordered the vinyl. Does the lp come with a digital download?

I believe so, parker, but your real treat is not only vinyl, but TRANSLUCENT RED vinyl.
January 18, 2014 at 2:41 am #51991parkercaParticipantEXCELLENT! Can’t wait!
January 18, 2014 at 7:26 pm #51992parkercaParticipantGot it today. Have the lp on the turntable now. Sounds great and love the packaging.
The gloss on the signature, spine and the song titles was a nice touch. Now we need “SOW” “CWOAGR” and “Essence” on LP!

I had my Lucinda collection on shuffle and my ears perked up when the first re-release tune came on… I knew it was from the new release because the depth and nuance are even better than the original! Bravo! A nice New Year’s gift to the fans. Looking forward to the spring shows. VMo p.s. DPAC – the Durham Performing Arts Center – in Durham, NC is a great venue! Hint hint! Skynyrd, ZZ and Elvis [C.] all sounded great there recently! I think Lu would like the acoustics and sound quality… and the wine 🙂

So you don’t agree, vmorris, with a previous poster who felt the dynamic anagram trumped the 4.1 woofer-bedjesus ration in lieu of 7.4 anagram technician doopuppy weefer ratio–but still admires the music? I think I’m on your side.
