Well Lucinda officially let the cat out of the bag a few minutes ago on Facebook -the title of the new record will be called Blessed–which is one of the new songs. Still figuring out the release date.

Superlative! I’m looking forward to the words and music, the liner notes, and yeah, like ParkerCA, the artwork, too! Thanks for keeping the friendly forum posted, TO.

For any curdmudgeons still on the fence about expanding their cyberspace world ~ I was all a twitter when Lu opened a twitter account last year, however, she has really wrapped her head, so it seems, around facebook. I recommend, if you don’t have a facebook account, or if you’re not following her if you have a facebook account, to open a facebook account and follow Lu! There’s something about what happens when Lu actually posts on facebook. Very cool.

    blessed.

i think everyone here that “discovered” lucinda after the release of happy woman blues (or any album after) must have felt that the disclosure of the title of her immediately next record is a bit of a big deal. i can only imagine the car wheels crowd reaction towards essence, the essence crowd reaction towards world without tears et al. this is the first of her records that won’t make me feel like the last person arriving at a great celebration. and i think this is a feeling exclusive to this particular release.

wonderful title, but i was expecting “seeing black” or even “copenhagen”.

i see what you mean, laffayete. twitter makes it impossible to estimate the vast amount of followers lucinda has (although, quite ironically, twitter is the network with categories such as “followers” and “following”). some of the messages people leave is really nice – i liked one that mentioned that it’s possible to hear her songs coming out from people’s homes in venice, california. and there’s some messages from worldwide fans, from croatia, italy and, uh, brazil (and those only in the first couple of pages).

just now someone posted a nice photo of her from the 80s: http://www.facebook.com/LucindaWilliams#!/photo.php?pid=1086026&o=all&op=1&view=all&subj=12788249188&aid=-1&id=1495268455 (is that gurf morlix with the white t-shirt?)

To (for the moment) continue the off-topic discussion, I’ll add that, while I was initially resistant to both Twitter & Facebook, I have to say I have enjoyed FB now that I have become active. Not Twitter, though. I find the short message length too restricting, and don’t care for all the “C U L8R” constructs that it encourages.

Back on topic, the question for TO is: Does Lu pronounce the new album title ˈblest or ˈble-səd?

    Tom

(P.S. – THREAD EDIT: – Added official album title to thread subject line)

    Excellent title choice.
Wonder if this helped Lu to select “Blessed”[attachment=0:1j2fk2ro]Lu and Tom Blessed.jpg[/attachment:1j2fk2ro]

It is Blessed–rhymes with West. If you read down the comment on the FB fan page she responds to another question about this and quotes a couple of lines from the lyrics.

    Sure thing, Lafayette!

Now all we need (other than the actual album in our sweaty little paws!) is to see the cover art!

Absolutely cannot wait for this! If Kiss Like Your Kiss is any indicator of how this album is going to sound, it’s going to be a pretty great record.

Wonder 1. If Difficult Child (aka Port Arthur) is on the set list under a different name.(love the song from Janis’s tribute night).

Wonder 2. Will the initial release also be available in Vinyl? I just bought a new USB turntable.

Here’s a smidgen more info from “Wears the Trousers” magazine.
