My pal Etienne is visiting from Paris so I am dragging his French ass to Echo Park. I have not seen Mike in around 2 years maybe so I am highly excited. 😀
Edit: I see the swear filter is back!

I believe an appropriate request would be “Take Out the Trash.”
August 23, 2013 at 6:21 pm #52123tonygKeymasterAbsolutely!! He closed with that when I saw him at Pappy and Harriets last time. 😀
August 23, 2013 at 9:50 pm #52124paul_from_losangelesParticipantLate post from The Echo Facebook page:

August 23, 2013 at 9:58 pm #52125tonygKeymasterYou know it. I wonder if there will be post-Dodger game traffic in the area? ❓
August 23, 2013 at 11:56 pm #52126paul_from_losangelesParticipantAlso, tonyg, there is a sold-out heavy-metal show at The Echoplex underneath The Echo. Have fun driving and parking.
I got my music fix last night (Thursday) with Sera Cahoone at The Hotel Cafe.
August 24, 2013 at 12:34 am #52127tonygKeymasterAwesome!! I could get my headbanger groove on. Thanks for the tip. 😀
August 24, 2013 at 3:39 pm #52128tonygKeymasterStupendous show by Mike last night He played from around 10:35 to about 12:45. No break. Good crowd. He played most of his new album and lotsa oldies. His band is tight. I spent most (all) of the evening in front of the stage standing next to Miss Pamela, who was sweet and funny. She made the mistake of inviting me to her house party on Sunday, at which Mike and the boys will be playing in the backyard. Looking forward to that, after which I will make a beeline to The Mint to see my friend Matt Szlachetka play. Good times.
Mike was pleasant as always. His voice seemed a bit huskier to me. Paul from Los Angeles made it an official happening.
Tally ho! 8)
August 26, 2013 at 3:24 pm #52129tonygKeymasterMike’s show in Miss Pamela’s backyard was a fun affair. I got there about an hour before the music started and there was already a decent sized crowd there, eating pot luck food and drinking various alcoholic beverages. By the time the music started space was at a premium, people were dodging each other, trees, tables, and the like. Lots of interesting people. Miss Pamela was most welcoming and Mike was jovial, as always. Miss Pamela’s former husband Michael Des Barres was there; I gather he used to be in a band or 2 and is an actor as well. Mike started playing around 6:20 and was awesome, although turned down for the neighbors sake. At 7:30 he was still going strong but I had to boogie as I had promised my friend Matt I would catch his show at The Mint at 8 pm.. Between songs I said farewell to my hostess and Mike but was sorry to hit the road because I had a pretty good idea this party was going to get weird and crazy.
I got to The Mint at 7:55, had a short chat with Matt, whose regular gig is in a band called The Northstar Session, and he hit the stage in front of a typically light Sunday night crowd. One of Matt’s students is the daughter of Jim Belushi and she joined him for a song while her daddy looked on from 2 feet in front of me. The show was over at 9:50 and I beat a hasty retreat to my suburban enclave.
Between 2 shows and 2 rounds of early morning golf I am beat and need to rest up for Lu’s Friday show. The fun part is that I had to report for jury duty this morning so I am sitting in a courthouse in Ventura with about 200 knuckleheads.

Good stuff, Tony, glad our nation’s courthouses allow posting and texting and so on while awaiting duty. Tell the truth, some of your “suburban enclave” neighbors are “knuckleheads” in their own right. Just don’t get sequestered for the 30th, as we will need your report on those parking lot escapades.
August 26, 2013 at 8:54 pm #52131tonygKeymasterIndeed Mr. S. so far I have made it to 2 pm. without being selected.
I will make sure I am fully rested for Lu’s show on Friday. 🙂
August 28, 2013 at 2:35 pm #52132LafayetteParticipanttonyg’s reports are always entertaining, very comparable to stoger’s. Brothers in [music]arms.
August 28, 2013 at 3:08 pm #52133tonygKeymasterI learned from the best! 😀
