Wonder no more, Mike. I represented last night. Over 3 hours of groovy music from Chris Stills, Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle, The White Buffalo, Stephen Stills, and Neil Young. The FF’s friendly guitarist Doug Pettibone was in the house band on pedal steel and guitar, and former Lu sound man Kev Madigan was on house sound. Several youngsters who have autism also performed songs and were great.

I think the plan was Neil would sit in on a few Still’s songs but Neil and Stephen played the entire set together and were great. Doug played on every song but one I think. After the show I got to chat with several of the key contributors, with the exception of Neil who disappeared into the night after the show. This was the 3rd such benefit by Stills and I was at the first one which featured Lucinda.

2 Fender guitars were auctioned off, each covered with the signatures of all the musicians. Hilarious Jack Black auctioned them off and each went for $22,000. One of them was purchased by Brad Pitt.

    Good for you Tony!!!
    Sounds like an amazing night!

I was thinking of you when I posted .. if there is a cool gig in your area.. you’re typically all over it.

By the way.. coming down for the San Diego Rolling Stones opener and arriving a week+ early in LA (5-16) with hopes of catching a rumored smaller opening show or surprise club gig, et al.. If you hear of any must see shows during that week.. I would appreciate the info!! -Mike

Just picked up a floor ticket to see Neil w Promise of the Real in Pomona, Ca. on Oct. 12th.
(he’s there for two nights in between Desert Trip appearances on the 8th and 15th)

Will be great to see them in a much smaller venue on my way to Desert Trip where they’ll be opening up for Paul McCartney on the following (and previous) Saturday..

My DT road trip now includes two more Rolling Stones shows in Las Vegas (!!!)
Starting to go through Lu withdrawals tho… surely they all miss the NorthWest (and us fans) as well?? 🙂

    Thanks Lafayette!
I’ve been hearing they have been on fire! Really looking forward to seeing them!

A few of my friends have been speculating that they may steal the show(s) at Desert Trip.
Then I remind them the stones are going to be there, so… 8)

    Jealous on your desert trip!

FA was mind boggling, and I much preferred this year’s set list choice over last.

My friend was in the photo pit, a huge Neil Young fan, and she could not believe he performed “Powderfinger.” Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real are pretty awesome, too!

Thanks for posting that POWDERFINGER, CB … a worthy version, imho. I continue to marvel at the quality of NEIL’s voice. 8)
