    Night 5 setlist:
The big final night with 10 songs making their Mpls debut & 7 making their tour debut. From Minneapolis to Essence the set took a real turn toward the dark side -Lu chose to do Seeing Black instead of Out Of Touch. At one point after Essence Lu noted that she was doing some “intense songs”. Partners In Crime is the song she recently recorded for a benefit record for Replacements guitarist Slim Dunlap. It should be available on Itunes sometime this month. She worked on it with Doug right before the show and really wanted to do it. She killed it and it was a really touching moment.

    Right In Time
I Just Want To See You So Bad
Pineola (first three songs with Lu on electric guitar)
    Drunken Angel
    I Lost It
    Greenville
I Look At The World (i think this is where it was)
    Fruits Of My Labor
    Little Angel Little Brother
    Ugly Truth
    Overtime (w/ Lily Mae)
    Minneapolis (w/ Lily Mae)
    Sweet Side
    Something Wicked
Seeing Black (w big false start-second version was excellent-much better than first)
    Essence
I Asked For Water (He Gave Me Gasoline) (Howlin’ Wolf cover)
    Change The Locks
    Joy
    Honey Bee

Partners In Crime (Slim Dunlap cover/tribute)
Jesus Just Left Chicago ( ZZ Top cover w/ Doug & Kenneth on gtrs and Lu on vocals)
Get Right w/ God (w/ everybody)

So that’s it -what a week in Mpls. By my count 68 different songs over the five nights. Just did some quick little number -songs were played from every Lu album and here is how it breaks down:
    Ramblin’ – 2
    Happy Woman – 2
    Rough Trade – 8
    Sweet Old World – 4
    Car Wheels – 11
    Essence – 6
    World Without Tears- 9
    West – 1
    Little Honey – 4
    Blessed – 6
    New songs- 6
Covers by Eddy Arnold (Hank Cochran), Memphis Minnie, Skip James, Bob Dylan, Mattie Delaney, Hank Williams, Lil’ Son Jackson, Howlin Wolf (2), Slim Dunlap, ZZ Top

Almost as interesting was wasn’t played -here are a few: Sweet Old World (although Ben Kyle asked Lu if he could do it on Weds, which he did), Still I Long For Your Kiss, Out Of Touch, Steal Your Love, Are You Alright?, West, Righteously & Buttercup.

Now it’s time to get going on the next chapter.

Awesome, TO! You’re running down these songs much like a stoger/setlist.fm combo with a few extra stats thrown in for good measure

As an aside, the color commentary? PRICELESS.

All that’s missing is the Stoughton show for this run of shows. I’ll start a thread to give you a short assist, if you could post the set list?

Minneapolis sounds like an amazing set of shows. It’s one of the reasons I love going to Lu’s shows- they are NEVER cookie cutter.

Yes, “I Need Protection” (or “Protection,” as Lu introduced it a time or two) has been played maybe 3-4 times in my hearing, though that Dakota version is a nice reprise. And the title city song for night six, my my.

Lafayette, can I link to one place with all the Dakota set lists?

Believe she played it here I met you in Redding and then again in Vancouver where we were both in attendance as I recall..

    Could be wrong though.
    Great song.

Yes, I did a quick google search and you are correct – I Need Protection [the title evolved] was played both in Redding & Vancouver.

Edit to add this rousing rendition of “Get Right With God” with Kenneth Brian Band (and Lu in pigtails!)

The same L Mae who got 2-3 minutes of Grammy on-camera time in a white dress behind Jack White, I presume?

thanks for the tally, Tom! As for the “almost as interesting…” part, I believe “West” is the only one on that list which was at least played earlier on this leg; perhaps “Out of Touch” was once too?

Stoge- All of them were played at least once except Are You Alright, Righteously & Buttercup which ironically are three of her biggest singles at AAA radio.

I just realized that I left off I Look At The World from night 5’s setlist. I’ll have to add that back in.

And yes that was our Lily Mae playing with Jack on the Grammy’s -she flew straight from Mpls to LA on Fri morning for rehearsals. It was a very difficult goodbye for her and Lu on Thurs night.

    Night 2’s setlist:
After a first night of feeling out the room/crowd as far as what it would handle volume wise -and discovering that we played it a little too much on the quieter side Night 1, it was an easy decision to liven things up a bit on Night 2.

    Can’t Let Go
    Right In Time
    Pineola
    Drunken Angel
    Port Arthur
    Born To Be Loved
I Envy The Wind (w/ Lily Mae)
    Overtime (w/ Lily Mae)
    Tryin’ To Get To Heaven
    Bitter Memory
    I Lost It
    Something Wicked
    Sweet Side
    Essence
    Down The Big Road Blues
    Change The Locks
    Joy
    Honey Bee

    Blessed
    Jambalaya
    Get Right With God

Tom what happened to Rarity? They killed it in Albuquerque. It never returned to the setlist as far as I have read. Maybe they literally killed it?

Good question -I kept meaning to bring it back but it just never quite made it back in. It’s some times hard to fit in because it’s a little long -but it was a real highlight of this run so I probably shouldn’t worry about that any more.
