Mike Younger ~ A friend of mine living in Nashville. Signed with Beyond Records back in the late 90’s, went belly up and he has been an unsigned artist since. First record produced by Rodney Crowell, organic and acoustic. Second record produced by Rob Clark (Neil Young), electric and Delta blues influenced. He’s in the studio now cutting his next record. He lived in New Orleans for 5 years, a street musician and homeless. Can hear heavy Delta blues influence in his music and lyrics certainly reflect his time spent on the streets in his second record “Every Stone You Throw.”

July 2, 2010 at 4:46 pm #37687LafayetteParticipantHere is a Studio 89 podcast up on my favorite NPR station featuring one of my top 5 performers. An hour of music and excellent Q & A, and me, in the background, clapping ;-). Also, Mark Miller, BR549, sat in on bass, the keyboard player kicked ass, and I love the drummer!
lwj…Mike is a fellow Canuck (Nova Scotia).

Nice music Lafayette.
My best man at my wedding hailed from Nova Scotia-a nice laid back province by the ocean.
You’ve probably seen this but here is a 2007 video of Mike singing “Together” in WNKU’s studios. He dedicates the song to the homeless in Cinci.

June 16, 2011 at 3:03 pm #37692LafayetteParticipantThis song is one of my favorites, especially solo acoustic. That recording is excellent! Thanks, lwj. The title of the song is incorrect, however.
“Together” was written after Mike received an invitation to play the National Alliance To End Homelessness at the Kennedy Center back in 2000.

That song can be found on this record, a very Delta New Orleans-esque rock blues recording.

June 16, 2011 at 11:48 pm #37693LWjettaParticipantHey Lafayette, thanks for the links and the correct song title.
I had looked at Mike’s song lists of his CD’s and couldn’t find “A Better Way” as per the You Tube title and kinda assumed it was a new song as Mike stated on his FB earlier this year that he is working on a new album. So, we shall look forward to his new release.
lwjMay 10, 2016 at 1:49 am #37694LafayetteParticipantBumping this thread for those that met Mike last night in Nashville. Some of the links posted previously are out dated.
May 10, 2016 at 12:00 pm #37695vmorrisParticipantThanks, Lafayette! We are cut from the same cloth when it comes to musical tastes, so I am looking forward to listening to Mike’s music. Also, he shared his pork chop with me at Café Lula (no, that is not a euphemism), so you KNOW he is good people! 8)
May 12, 2016 at 4:46 am #37696LafayetteParticipantI was surrounded by good people Sunday evening. 😉
May 13, 2016 at 3:51 am #37697LafayetteParticipantMike just dropped a video for his single “Poisoned Rivers” from upcoming release “Little Folks Like You and Me’
First time he’s released an official video, as far as I know.
