I am a music journalist in the UK and I was lucky enough to meet Lucinda after her show in Manchester last year. When I met her, I was meeting her simply in the capacity as a longtime fan, i was not interviewing her and was simply hanging around the stagedoor area after the show. It was quite a while after the show before Lucinda emerged from the venue and by that time there were no more than about 10 fans still waiting to see her. I can honestly say that Lucinda came across as the most genuine and all round nicest person I have ever met in the music business and I have met a lot over the years. She showed real interest in everyone there who had waited to meet her, she fulfilled every request asked of her, be it an autograph or a signing and she rushed no one. She was happy to just stand and chat away for what seemed like an age and it must have been at least 45 mins before she finally left, having kissed most of us goodbye before she got on her tour bus. Some say you should not meet your heroes/favourites because they often disappoint but this was so not the case with Lucinda, she exceeded all my expectations and she was just so very real and sweet. Meeting Lucinda was the most refreshing experience i have had in the music industry in a long, long time.

Eventually she came out and talked to us and it was so surreal. Just me, my dad, Lucinda and Tom talked for a pretty long time. The first thing she said was “Bless your hearts!”. I was so nervous that I didn’t even saying anything about how much I loved her songwriting–I only said I really liked her style of guitar playing on the blues songs. But she exceeded my expectations of her graciousness to fans. After all, she didn’t even have to stay and talk to us. It was really cool. 😀
January 6, 2010 at 3:47 pm #41930tonygKeymasterI met Lucinda once. In a bar. I bought her a beer. She took the bottle and smashed it over my head. Then she told me to get the hell out or she was going to gut me like a fish.
Oh wait, that wasn’t Lucinda. Never mind.

Hmmmm. Maybe you shouldn’t be hanging around in bars, tonyg. Sounds dangerous! 😆 😉

If you don’t believe me, hum it and see. 😀
