It finally stopped raining and there is a yellow round thing in the sky. Word is it might be the sun.

March 3, 2014 at 3:53 pm #52718tonygKeymasterLast night’s show was epic. Grumpymama, Ryan, and myself drove in under gloomy skies from our buccolic Ventura County homes and had a tasty Mexican dinner up the street from McCabe’s. There was already a line at 6:45 pm. We joined the line one hour later and for the first time I witnessed the entire Kenneth Brian Band set. Lu hit the stage early. I was expecting some songs would be swapped out from Saturday but we got wholesale changes. Anyone attending these 2 shows alone got to hear a lot of different music. Lu delivered an emotional version of Fancy Funeral and Soldiers Song. I thought the evening was trending toward a lot of sad songs but they got rockin eventually. Stuart really expressed himslf on Out of Touch. At the end of the main set I wondered if maybe we would get one encore at best due to the length of the show. We certainly got our money’s worth, plus more.
The usual L.A. suspects were there; besides my party Paul from Los Angeles was in the house. It was great to meet SeaSamishMike who made the long trip and was in the house.
Tonight we will see what Lu has left in the tank. Mine is almost empty.

March 3, 2014 at 5:02 pm #52721tonygKeymasterThat is another new Lu song Mr. Stoger.
March 3, 2014 at 5:07 pm #52722paul_from_losangelesParticipantstoger, I presume “It’s Hard to Take”, from McCabes #2, is the song you listed as “It’s Hard to Take This Old Heartache” from San Juan Capistrano. Since I didn’t attend the Coach House show, I’m not sure.
March 3, 2014 at 5:30 pm #52723tonygKeymasterI remember the songs as having a country music, Hank Williams vibe, with a nice Chet Atkins-y guitar by Stuart. Then again, maybe not. 🙄

Good catch, Paul: I’m tripping myself up now (or maybe just wishing Lu will play all of the 34 recorded tracks ASAP). I’m sure it’s the same song, as with the “West Memphis…” case.
Good description of it, Tony.
