    – dreadnought 14-fret-style body, solid Engelmann spruce top, solid flamed claro walnut back and sides, D-OMLE scalloped bracing, round soundhole with three-ring Style 45 rosette (5/9/5 grouping with a large middle ring of abalone pearl), grained ivoroid binding, bold herringbone top inlay, B/W/B back inlay, mahogany neck, 14/20-fret ebony fingerboard with Foden-style inlays on the 5th, 7th, and 9th frets, solid flamed claro walnut headstock overlay with Aztec two-headed multi-color serpent inlay and gold foil logo, three-per-side nickel Waverly W-16 tuners, ebony belly bridge, white bridge pins with tortoise dots, tortoise pickguard, label signed by CFM IV and Lucinda Williams and numbered in sequence, Natural polished gloss with Vintage Sunburst top and Dark Filler back and sides finish, 25.4 in. scale, case included, limited edition run, mfg. summer 2003 only

    Christie’s auctioned off prototype # 3 of only 4 produced in 2003 for $4,000.00.

    So, this never made it to production.
    T Overby, did Lu get to keep one of the four prototypes and does she play it ?

    That’s cool as Hell! I’m surprised it fetched only $4000. But, then again, since it was a prototype model, and not one actually owned & played by Lu, I reckon it is not worth as much. Love the double-headed serpent inlay…
