Just saw this one recently uploaded on You Tube.
It is part of an album from 2008 Vol. 2 called Female Tribute to Tom Waits.A beautiful song.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kchRoeSasSMDid a little research, as I had not heard Lu’s version of this old Tom Waits song from his album “Rain Dogs” from 1990.
Found out “Hang Down your Head”, “Cold Cold Heart” and “Buick Blues” were 3 songs added as bonus cuts from “World Without Tears” Australian version in 2003.
I haven’t been able to hear the Buick Blues song. I’d like to know its background. Any link to the naming of Buick 6?

lwjYup, I have this “Australia Bonus Tracks” edition of WWOT (as well as the standard U.S. release). Lu’s cover of “Hang Down Your Head” is indeed beautiful – hauntingly so, IMHO.
“Buick Blues (Version One)” (as it is fully titled on the CD), is credited as written by Lu. It is an old-time blues, coming in at only 2 minutes 45 seconds, with Lu singing and playing a twangy, slightly distorted acoustic guitar. The lyrics are as follows:
Are you gonna quit me baby
And go on down the road?
You gonna quit me baby
And go on down the road?
I’m gonna miss you, boy,
‘Cause you’re my so-and-so.I know we’ve had our fights,
We fight like cats and dogs.
I know we’ve had our fights,
We fight like cats and dogs.
But we can make it right, boy,
I’ll let you be the boss.Sometimes the things you say, baby,
Make me feel so bad.
Sometimes the things you say, baby,
Make me feel so bad.
Now you wanna run away, boy,
From the best girl you have had.You know when you rock me, baby,
You make me feel so good.
You know when you rock me, baby,
You make me feel so good.
Don’t run off, boy,
Do me like you should.I wanna get you a Buick, baby,
And ride around the world.
I wanna get you a Buick, baby,
And ride around the world.
All I ever want to do, boy,
Is just to be your girl.I wanna get you a Buick, baby,
And ride around the world.
I wanna get you a Buick, baby,
And ride around the world.
All I ever want to do, boy,
Is just to be your girl.As far as any connection to Buick 6’s name, your guess is a good as mine… 😉

Thanks Tnt
While you were posting this, I tried Rhapsody and it wouldn’t let me play the song as “I appeared to be from outside the U.S.A.”-True.
Didn’t give up and was able to listen to it from I think a Japanese or Chinese web site. You are right-really twangy. You know , we could have easily created another Forum Trivia for this song-much like “This Blue”, but that thread still isn’t really finished until we hear from T. Overby.
Regards.

Actually, it is – remember? A new forum member, “Itchy Skin” posted up that he/she was the eBay bidder who beat me out for the copy of the “In Touch…” interview CD and then verified that the song from the YouTube video indeed came from this CD…

Well 99.999% finished for “This Blue”, but you asked Lu’s Hubby if he had received the CD from Lost Highway and he said no and will follow up.
As I said to Drunken Angel, I would like to see it posted on the Forum’s Record section for us all to have a listen from the real ( not Limewired ) version.By the way, my compliments on your extensive Lu collection.
Someday please list your library for us.
You probabily have some “Rarities” in your list. Thanks
lwjP.S. I think the image of Buick Blues I posted is a ’56 Roadmaster. That sure dates me because I was a teenager back then.
December 21, 2009 at 1:05 am #41674parkercaParticipant“Hang Down Your Head” was also issued on the LP version of WWOT.
December 21, 2009 at 4:05 am #41675ducknappedParticipant….and it’s also available on “Crossing Jordan – Original Soundtrack” CD. You can usually pick up a copy on ebay or the used bins on the cheap. Lots of other great tracks including Richard Thompson’s take on “Season Of The Witch”.
December 21, 2009 at 4:18 pm #41676parkercaParticipantThat’s right, I forgot it being on the “crossing jordan” soundtrack.
