Yesterday i was watching a movie (Tenenbaum) with a good choice of songs : Clash, Stones, Paul Simon…
I wonder if Lu appears in some movies or TV’s.April 7, 2009 at 7:31 pm #39404tntracyParticipantWell, two that immediately come to mind – she recorded a cover of Glen Campbell’s hit “Gentle On My Mind” (written by John Hartford) that plays while the credits roll on the movie Talledega Nights. And, on the NBC television series Crossing Jordan, she recorded a version of “Hang Down Your Head” (written by Kathleen Brennan & Tom Waits). The latter is available on a 2003 Crossing Jordan soundtrack CD (as well as a bonus track on the Australian release of World Without Tears), while the former has never been commercially released.
I’m sure there are others…

Wish I could remember that title: it pops up on Sundance and/or IFC on occasion. There’s more I’m drawing blanks on.

Oh yeah, I just thought of another one… 😉
A version of “Hard Time Killing Floor Blues” (written by Nehemiah “Skip” James) on the Wim Wenders documentary film A Soul Of A Man (an awesome soundtrack, BTW, if you love the blues). It was a documentary, as opposed to a feature film, however.
And these I culled from her “Credits” list at allmusic.com:
Film soundtracks: “One Night Stand” from Tumbleweeds; “Can’t Let Go” from Jack Frost; “Still I Long For Your Kiss” from The Horse Whisperer; & “The Night’s Too Long” from Lone Star.
Television series soundtracks: “Are You Alright?” from House, M.D. & “Right In Time” from The L Word.

“Lucinda Williams performed three songs on the soundtrack –
Essence, Steal Your Love & Unsuffer Me”April 26, 2009 at 5:31 pm #39402Drunken AngelParticipantWhen Like A Rose plays in TransAmerica, it is nothing short of awesome.
One of my favorite LuSongs from a movie is Terry Allen’s Bloodlines from the film The Baby Dance. I’ve not been able to find that song anywhere.
April 26, 2009 at 10:51 pm #39403tntracyParticipantThat last song’s a good, somewhat obscure one, Drunken Angel. I knew of her singing “Room To Room” and “Black To Black” with Terry Allen on his album Human Remains, but I was not aware of that one. I’d sure like to get a copy of it myself. In case you haven’t seen it (or for anyone else interested), I found this Terry Allen interview where he talks about getting Lu to sing “Bloodlines” for The Baby Dance.
Also, here’s a good list of Lu’s songs / singing in movie & TV soundtracks at imdb.com…

July 20, 2009 at 6:34 pm #39398folkblues23ParticipantThe movie is called The Lucky Ones, and it’s a great. “Real Love” comes on the radio in the car in one of the scenes.
