Wild and Blue was written by John Scott Sherill, not billy…
July 1, 2012 at 8:11 pm #40193blureuParticipantBeen away from the board for awhile. Hope this is still in the works!
July 9, 2012 at 3:43 am #40194TOverbyParticipantYes – it’s all tied in with the new record label deal whenever that gets done. It will come as soon after that is all decided.
August 16, 2012 at 1:03 am #40195lkaufmanParticipantHi Tom, Critical question regarding this release, Vinyl? Thanks, Lee
August 17, 2012 at 10:18 pm #40198TOverbyParticipantYes -definitely it will be on vinyl
August 19, 2012 at 11:54 pm #40197lkaufmanParticipantsuperb! now, need to release those that never saw a vinyl pressing.
August 22, 2012 at 12:55 pm #40196lkaufmanParticipantTom, I hope this is a good place to mention something else related to a potential vinyl release. I had the good fortune of hearing Lu perform Ode To Billy Joe at the Ryman some years ago, such a moving timeless piece, rendered by Lu with an emotive authenticity rarely encountered. I thought, wow, it would be spectacular to have that track on a vinyl pressing. Consider this: a Limited 10″ EP with that and one or two other rarities (such as Tryin to Get To Heaven as a ‘B’ side) for a Record Store Day release. Wouldn’t that be a treat?! Lee
August 28, 2012 at 11:55 pm #40199TraneParticipantI do understand a lot of people are eager for vinyl releases, but I’m grown up in the age of digitalis. A high resolution digital release for downloading would be great. Flac format in 24-96 resolution?
I’m really looking foreward to this reissue !
August 29, 2012 at 2:13 am #40200TOverbyParticipantInteresting that you bring that up as it is something that I think about. I’m just not sure that there are enough people that really care about sound quality anymore. But as I said it is something that I continue to consider for future releases.

FWIW, I do! 😉

September 4, 2012 at 12:21 am #40202TraneParticipantWell, it can’t be a lot of risk considering there are no physicsl production or distribution involved. I do know there’s some work needed to prepare the conversion into a flac format etc. and probably some legal issues when getting involved with new web based distributionpartners, bit I cannot see a big financial risk.
I really think the interrest is there, but people are getting getting tired of not being able to find the highres quality. If it’s not there people will stop looking for it, and highres as a niche and possibility to charge some extra bucks will vanish almost before it started. If people care enough about sound quality to still by vinyl I think there will be people intersted in high quality digital files as well.
Right now I’m listening to a vinyl rip of World Without Tears in 24/96 resolution in flac format. It’s an amateur rip made on rather modest equipment, but I still prefer the sound of it before the CD I bought back in 2003. Better still would be if I could by high res the propper way.
Ofcourse there are not a lot of dedicated distributers, but I think HD-tracks are really getting up a momentum these days. Linn in Scottland is also getting a bigger and bigger customer base.
Guess I’ll just have to keep my fingers crossed and hope for the best. Looking foreward to the reissue even if I’ll have to settle with the outdated CD-format.

September 28, 2012 at 2:54 pm #40203tntracyParticipantWell, Trane, apparently Neil Young sees a market for high-resolution digital downloads & portable players that support the format! 😉

November 14, 2012 at 12:07 am #40204stevarinoParticipantSo now that I finally have my Rough Trade vinyl album signed and framed on the wall of my entertainment room, I get to buy another remastered version of it with 2 extras LPs, and take it to concerts until I get that one signed too… awesome, looking forward to it.
Nice meeting you after the Covington Kentucky show Tom. Next time the band is in town I’ll have to get you some proper after show food besides the pizza that was delivered. I’m sure Mr. Ruby could put together some good meals for the band and crew.
