Around the same time in europe??? 😯
August 25, 2009 at 4:21 pm #40168Disco StuParticipantI’m glad we are getting a version of “wild and blue”.
Me too. Now, an officially released version of “All I Want” would be, well, all I want. 🙂
August 28, 2009 at 3:13 am #40169parkercaParticipant“All I Want” would be a great bonus.
I have a live version from the 93′ Strawberry Festival and it is great.
September 8, 2009 at 4:45 am #40152darkhorseParticipantis there a plan for a vinyl release?

I asked Tom this very question last night. Unfortunately, it has been delayed, with the earliest possible release after the first of the year…

Well that sucks, but I’m not surprised. The release date has been delayed several times. I hope I’m still alive and kickin’ by the time its released.

Hey Spyder
Kind of reminiscent of “NEILS” first archive release-took forever to reach the market.lwj

We are getting closer to finishing the deal for the reissue of the LW cd. We are going to try to have it out by the end of Oct. Right now it is planned to be a 3 disc set:
DISC 1–Remixed and remastered version of the original album from the original masters which were missing until about a year ago. The improved sound quality is a major improvement.
DISC 2–A recently discovered 1989 live recording from LW tour. Recorded for a radio show in the Netherlands, the sound and performance are terrific. Will also include the 6 bonus tracks for the 92 reissue.
DISC 3–A dvd of the LA El Rey performance from the 2007 album shows. Full five camera shoot and 5.1 sound. Edited by the guy who does most of the videos for the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame. Of course everything could change but i am reasonably confident that we will get it out in Oct/Nov.Regarding Disc 3 I hope “Still I long for your Kiss” is one selection. Shelby Lynne clowning around with Lu.
Watch and enjoy.

Two hot blondes having fun, and Shelby gets it spot on with her comment at the end.
Can`t wait for this to be released.
December 15, 2009 at 6:54 pm #40172whiskeyboyParticipantAny update on the Rough Trade re-release?
I first saw Lu in Austin in ’87 where performed most, if not all, of the songs that were to be on the album. And I asked myself and others — where’s her record? Well, it would be another year or so. I got it at Tower in NY. Then went to my local store and asked him to get it in. He did, my credibility went up 1,000%.
Long story short, Lu got me back into whatever label you want to put on it — and despite other claims, it was the first “altcountry” record.
Like Lee Wiley of jazz vocalists, Lu set the standard. So many imitators, so many false prophets, so many poseurs…. and to paraphrase Paul Newman, “Why settle for hamburger when you’ve got steak.”
I know it’s also a labor of love, take the time to get it right.
December 16, 2009 at 12:45 am #40173TOverbyParticipantThe latest update is that I thought I had a label/dist. deal done that would have had a spring release, but that has now fallen thru. We do still have some fine tuning to do with the remixing etc. We definitely want to get it right. I think spring will still happen, but I am trying to decide now how I want to put it out, whether we will end up doing it ourselves or going thru another label etc.
December 16, 2009 at 1:07 am #40174parkercaParticipantThanks for the update!

Indeed. Sorry to hear the prior label / distribution deal fell through, but thanks for plugging away at finding another. Obviously, we all look forward to the day this is released!

Below is the track listing for the potential 2nd disc of LW reissue. Also, I have just been listening to the nearly final clean up of LW from the original master tapes (which the Koch reissue didn’t use because they were missing at that time) and it is sounding beautiful. Mr. Liljestrand has done his usual stellar job. It will all be mastered by the Grammy winning Gavin Lurssen who did such a fantastic job on West and Little Honey.
