A collection of Lu songs, covers, duets, live performances.
There are about 10 pages to scroll through on the web site “The Hype Machine”
You can listen to quite a few until they ask you to register for free-just need to give your e-mail address and a password.
Once you register it seems you can continue to listen all you want but if you want to download any, the first 25 are free and then who knows?

Anyway, here are some interesting ones.
Little Milton from 1999 “Love Hurts” with Lu
    Live from KCRW “Sweet Side”
Elvis C. with Lu “Wild Horses”
Live at WXPN “2 Kool 2 Be 4 Gotten”
From 1998 “Here in California” a Kate Wolf cover
“Real Love” ( an alternate early version )
    “Lately” a Greg Brown cover
from 1990 “Which Will” a Nick Drake cover
“Gentle on my mind” a John Hartford cover
Some of these are listed on tntracy’s spreadsheet.
There are several duplicate listings, but a most interesting collection of Lucinda’s music gifts.

Why not start by listening to Little Milton and Lu.
    Just scroll through.

thanks for the link! i’m amazed at how different this real love version sounds. considerably less furious.

    besides that:

Little Milton from 1999 “Love Hurts” with Lu –> terrific
Live from KCRW “Sweet Side” –> terrific

couldn’t hear WXPN “2 Kool 2 Be 4 Gotten”, but i’m almost sure it’s the same version featured on the deluxe edition of car wheels.

couldn’t hear also the side of the road cover by the schramms, even after i registered. i guess it’s not available anymore.

Seems we can only play the ones with the play arrow.
Others without the arrow, I opened up the full post and it seems at one time you could hear them but not now.
It’s a great site with music lovers all over the world sharing their favorites. I noted there is a disclaimer i.e. you are encouraged to buy the music but have a listen first. Sounds reasonable.

Punchdrunklove and everyone, you can of course search the blogs on the Hype Machine for your favorite artist.
I found some great covers and live recordings.
I somewhat prefer the live recordings for the spontaneity over the rehearsed, rehearsed and rehearsed studio songs.

unbelievable! track #179 – right in time has a big red EXPLICIT attached to it. since every other occurrence of the song doesn’t have such thing i can only assume that’s because it’s the track is from a L WORD soundtrack. this automatically made the song dirty. 🙂

and that made me remind a little side note i got from listening to one of her shows (boston/orpheus, ’99). i uploaded it for you, it’s well worth listening: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=RDUZG4B6

nonetheless, great link, nice to listen to two more songs i’ve never heard before: “buick blues” and “honey chile” – and 30 seconds of an alternate version of “words”.
