Vienna, VA—Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts is proud to present the performance schedule for
the 2007 Summer Season at Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts. This year’s highly anticipated season
is highlighted by Wolf Trap commissions, Grammy award-winners, Wolf Trap debuts and old favorites, dance,
symphony, films, and opera. With almost 100 shows booked to-date, the schedule is nearly complete; however
additions and revisions will occur throughout the summer. Patrons are encouraged to visit www.wolftrap.org or
call 703-255-1868 throughout the summer for the most up-to-date information.
Continuing with efforts to present accessible and affordable arts experiences to the broadest possible audience,
Wolf Trap has lowered the price of lawn tickets to as low as $8 for several of this season’s performances, while
maintaining policies that allow patrons to bring their own food and drinks, and providing public transportation and
free parking for all performances at Wolf Trap’s Filene Center. Additionally, the season will once again include
Wolf Trap’s annual Summer Blast-Off!, a Washington area tradition featuring a free performance by the United
States Marine Band followed by fireworks.
Wolf Trap’s 2007 Summer Season opens May 25, 2007 and boasts nearly 100 performances, including:
World Premiere Dance and Wolf Trap Debuts
Doug Varone & Dancers’ Wolf Trap performance features the world premiere of a new, Wolf Trapcommissioned
work and the presentation of Bottomland, the interpretive exploration of Mammoth Cave National
Park originally commissioned by Wolf Trap, debuting in 2002 as part of the groundbreaking multi-year artistic
adventure series, Face of America. Bottomland will be accompanied by extraordinary HD video captured on
location, in the delicate ecosystems beneath the Earth’s surface.
Artists making their Filene Center debuts this summer include Rock and Roll Hall of Famers Steely Dan; salt-ofthe-
earth hip hop artist Common; singer-songwriter and former Smiths frontman Morrissey; Richmond, Virginia’s
Carbon Leaf; Michael York; Paulina Rubio; Pink Martini; Seu Jorge; Kristeen Young; Alejandro Sanz; the
New Orleans Social Club; Sam Yahel Organ Trio; Julie Roberts; James Hunter; Ryan Shaw; Squeeze; Sonya
Kitchell; Mountain; The Zombies; Badfinger; and Country Joe McDonald.

The Wolf Trap Opera Company, one of the country’s most highly regarded and established residency programs
for young professional singers, proudly presents three full-scale productions this summer. Performances include, at
The Barns at Wolf Trap, a new production of Volpone, the highly lauded comic opera originally commissioned by
Wolf Trap from one of America’s most versatile composers, John Musto, and librettist Mark Campbell. Also in
the intimate setting of The Barns, the Company presents its new production of L’Étoile, Emmanuel Chabrier’s
whimsical and luminous French love story. And Mozart’s timeless Magic Flute returns to the Filene Center at
Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts, the most family-friendly opera house in town.
In addition, the Company presents a collaborative concert production of Bizet’s Carmen with the National
Symphony Orchestra, featuring Wolf Trap Opera Company alumni Denyce Graves and Simon O’Neill.
Carmen is also Wolf Trap’s Kay Shouse Great Performance for 2007, honoring Wolf Trap’s founder Catherine
Filene Shouse and her vision for artistic excellence.

Wolf Trap proudly announces the return of NSO@Wolf Trap Festival Conductor, Maestro Emil de Cou and
seven performances throughout the summer by the celebrated National Symphony Orchestra, including
collaborations with pianist Lang Lang, Sir James Galway, Marvin Hamlisch, and two nights of Bugs Bunny on
Broadway, featuring films and music with everyone’s favorite “wascally wabbit.” Additional highlights in the

Wolf Trap’s 2007 Summer Dance Series includes Doug Varone & Dancers; the Paul Taylor Dance Company;
Trey McIntyre Project performing to music by The Beatles and Beck, and Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s
presentation of Twyla Tharp’s Nine Sinatra Songs.
Wolf Trap also welcomes the return of Riverdance for their 10th appearance at the only Washington, D.C. area
venue to present the thunderous celebration of Irish music and dance. Golden Globe nominee Ted Neeley takes the
stage in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar and Michael York makes his North
American touring debut in Camelot. Nine performances of the 50th Anniversary Production of West Side Story
have also just been added to the summer schedule.

Wolf Trap’s 18th Annual Louisiana Swamp Romp brings the music and festive atmosphere of New Orleans to
the Washington, DC area, with an all-day party featuring performances by The New Orleans Social Club –
George Porter, Jr., Leo Nocentelli, Ivan Neville and Henry Butler; Steve Riley & The Mamou Playboys;
Sonny Landreth; and Geno Delafose & French Rockin’ Boogie.
Wolf Trap’s Hippiefest, “A Concert for Peace and Love” will turn back the clock with appearances by The
Turtles featuring Flo & Eddie, Felix Cavaliere’s Rascals, The Zombies featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent,
Mountain featuring Leslie West & Corkey Laing, Mitch Ryder, Badfinger featuring Joey Molland, and Country
Joe McDonald.
