Received my Rolling Stone magazine in the mail today. RS countdowns the top 70 Dylan songs and has different artists take on certain songs. Lucinda gives her take on #16 Positively 4th Street.
and a spoiler “Wiggle, Wiggle” did not break the top 70. 😮 😮
I liked her piece and glad they asked her to do it, especially about a song she knows and does so well. But, and this is more than a matter of taste I would argue, what is up with that list? So nostalgic and refuses to treat more contemporary Dylan in any intelligent or inventive way.
After looking at the list of journalists who compiled the list, though, I guess this kind of thing is what you can expect from a bunch of men who spend their lives looking, writing and thinking backwards…
