In the meantime you find two new posts about the concert’s details (“Partial blue ballsy setlist” by stoger and “Blue Balls Festival Lucerne 22nd” by swisschris).
So there isn’t much to add. The venue was indeed not exactly the most decent place for this kind of concert. It’s very formal, more suitable for a classic than a rock concert. And as formal as the venue itself was the audience. They sat so stiffly in their seats as if they had just swallowed a board and it seemed that most of them knew nothing of Lucinda and her music. There were almost no reactions when she announced a song. This was hard to bear for myself, being a long time fan of her music and I wish I could have shared my enthusiasm with other real fans rather than sitting among people who don’t move and don’t show any emotion. At least towards the end the audience finally awoke and gave Lucinda and her band a standing ovation. I agree with swisschris that it was a very rock orientated concert and that the sound wasn’t always perfect but their show was fabulous. Personal highlights for me were “well well well” and “tears of joy” which had a kind of a jazzy groove.
Eric plays damned well and he certainly doesn’t hold back with his joy to play in this band. And that’s ok. To me it seems that he’s almost the contrary of Doug who played his guitar so understated and calm in the back and yet always fascinated or almost mesmerized me with his stage presence.July 24, 2009 at 9:05 am #40269stogerParticipantthanks for the comments and earlier complete setlist, J–the three songs I missed were great ones of course, but standard for this tour. I felt “stiff as a board” myself up there on the last row of the balcony; nor did I get to interact with any “real fans.” The way I moved was to stand up for exiting fans crossing over me; this seemed to happen after every song–polite but still an outrage to Lu fans. Yes, Eric is good. You would have enjoyed Paris. Oh well.

I have found in this Set she dont play and speak much with the Fans. I have some cds for to signed. I ask poeples from the Band and i receive a paper with the Songs was written with the Computer, without a word why autograped isnt possible. Thats pity. Maybe she have your reason. The concert was to rock oriented for me. I miss a little the strong Ballads from the Essence and Sweet old Word CDs. Her Voice i found fantastic. The Audience in Lucerne was from the Acoustic normaly excelllent. But i think for this Hall was better a Acoustic Set than a Rock Set. Thats my opinion. I hope, she come more times to Switzerland for a live concert. She is great, this concert for me was 6 from 10 Points. Owlwolf.
July 24, 2009 at 11:47 pm #40271LeftyParticipantYour English is much better than my Switzerdeutsch, O-W. For me, an exhilarating part of going to a concert is never really knowing what you’re going to get (unless you go see the Eagles). Six out of ten ain’t bad. Welcome to the Forum.
July 26, 2009 at 10:48 am #40272stogerParticipantTouche on that Eagles reference, Lefty. Can you say “watered down” country rock? But Bernie Leadon ain’t a bad guy. Owl, good thoughts, I might go 6.5 out of ten, but yes.
