    1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison (1-10)

This was definitely a nice surprise in Madison, mainly because of the rarer songs Lucinda chose to play that night. I certainly wouldn’t mind more shows like this, but honestly, I’d have liked that show just as much if the exact same songs had been played, but in a different order. I guess what I’m saying is that this is about a 6 for me – not a high priority, but it definitely wouldn’t be a bad thing, either.

    2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock (1-10)

This could be interesting. I’d rate this maybe an 8. Though similar to my answer to #1, I’d probably feel about the same towards a set that happened to be half ballads and half rock songs but alternated throughout as I would to the split-set idea. Either way, I’d love to hear more ballads.

    3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock (1-10)

I’d like this a lot. Call it a 9. What I particularly like is the idea of a two-night stand where almost no songs are repeated from night to night (and again, more ballads are always a good thing).

    4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city (1-10)

10! And I’d selfishly point out that given that it’s been done in NY and LA, it would make a ton of sense to do this in, say, Chicago. In any case, I think it’s a great idea and would also add that while I understand that maybe this particular album goes back too far, it would be incredible if Lucinda decided to do a Happy Woman Blues night.

    5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. (1-10)

While I do like the shows as they are – I certainly enjoyed Madison last month – I think shaking things up is usually a good thing, so I’ll rate this a 5.

In a different and more general category:
    1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal (1-10)

Hmm…you know, I think this is a really cool and generous thing to think about, and I’d really appreciate the gesture. Ultimately, though, I don’t know if this would really make a difference with merch sales (which after all, would be a big reason to do it), and I don’t hold the Ticketmaster fees against Lucinda or her management. Call this a 5, too.

    2) Being aware of the past fan club fiasco- does a fan club hold any appeal if it made sense and had value? (1-10)

I’m not aware of the past “fan club fiasco,” and I’d say this really depends on what it would be. IMO, we’ve got a pretty nice fan community going here (and a big strength of it is the constant input from management, which is very much appreciated). I can think of some things that would be really amazing (a fan club-only show, chances to meet Lucinda), but I don’t know if they’re anything she’d be interested in. In any case, I’ll vote this an 8 based on it making sense and having value…I’m just not all that sure what it would entail.

    3) The possibility of being able to buy tickets before the general public -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)

10, 10, 10! For seated shows, it’s very important to me to be able to get great seats, and I’m in favor of anything that makes that easier. I do have to say that thus far, I’ve thought that ticket sales for Lucinda have gone much smoother and are much better for the fans than they are for a lot of other artists. I’ve already gotten great seats (including front row a couple times) for seated shows; however, I would guess that right now the way tickets are sold really depends on the individual show and venue. So anything to standardize that process for all shows to give fans a chance at getting the best seats would be great.

    4) More live releases -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)
    4a) Digital only (1-10)
    4b) Prefer cd (1-10)

I thought the album shows from last year were done really well and offered at a reasonable price. I’d definitely welcome the chance to buy more shows, particularly if recordings were offered for particularly special shows (unusual setlists, surprise guests, etc). As for the format, it depends on the price. If they’d be the same price either way, I’d rate them each an 8. If digital-only meant being able to sell them for a bit less money than CDs, I’d rate digital-only an 8 and CDs a 7.

    5) What cities have we missed?

Well, speaking from my Wisconsin perspective, you’ve been doing a great job. I’ve seen Lucinda 8 times in the past 3 years without traveling beyond WI/IL/IA…and I’ve passed up several shows that I could’ve made distance-wise.

    6) And last but not least, what did I miss?–consider this the suggestion box.

Well, Tom, I can’t really think of anything else. As I hope I’ve said numerous times, I appreciate the level of interaction between fans and management that takes place here. About the only other thing I’d say is that I think it’s great that Lucinda’s been revisiting some older songs and mixing up her setlists…the more of that, the better. She’s written and performed so many great songs in her career, and as a concertgoer I’d love to hear as many of them as possible. Any old songs and rarities that she decided to break out again in ’09 would be welcome.

Tom this is a great idea !

    1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison (1-10) 10

    2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock (1-10) 8

    3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock (1-10) 6

    4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city (1-10) 10 How about a midwestern city like Chicago ?

    5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. (1-10) 9 If nothing changes its still good.
In a different and more general category:
    1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal (1-10) 10 I really like this idea. I remember the times when we could go to concerts for under $10 dollars. I wonder if you and Lu feel the same way that I do about Ticketbastard. 8 dollar fee per ticket ?1? Grand larceny !

Hi all, saw LW in Des Moines, Iowa at a beautiful and intimate setting of a small theater. L was fabulous and Buick Six was very nice as well. Buick Six admitted that they had just recorded their first CD; anyone know where I might find a copy please?

I picked up the Buick 6 cd and the Doug Pettibone cd at the merchandise table at a show. Very nice version of well well well with Lu on the Buick 6 cd. Not sure where you can find the cd except at the shows.

Long time lurker, first time posting. I’ve seen Lucinda 7 times over the past 4 years.

    1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison (1-10)
    9. I couldn’t make it to all 5 L.A. album shows, and I would love to hear some of the older stuff live.

    2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock (1-10)
    5. As others have already said, I like mixing it up. Doug and the band burn it up on the rock songs, which is awesome, but it sounds better when my ears get a bit of a break in between. And I like a roller coaster of emotions that happens when the types of songs are mixed.

    3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock (1-10)
    Same opinion as above.

    4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city (1-10)
    8. Now that I have some cash to spring for it and could go to more than one show. How about San Francisco this time? Of course, I’m biased now that I move here from L.A.

    5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. (1-10)
    8. The only thing I would change is mixing up the songs more. Except for some of the newer songs, I feel like I hear a lot of the same songs over and over. I will rock along with them regardless of how many times I’ve heard them and enjoy it, but hearing some of the less performed songs would be cool, too. Also, as others have mentioned, do a series of acoustic shows again. Lucinda’s voice tonight (11/16) at the Fillmore (especially on the acoustic song) sounded sweet as honey. Her voice is sounding more relaxed as she seems more comfortable on stage. A series of recorded acoustic shows would make my year.

In a different and more general category:
    1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal (1-10)
    2. With this economy, keep the money for your’s, Lu’s, the band’s and the crew’s retirement funds! I am irritated when my $35 ticket jumps to $54 because of all the stupid Ticketmaster fees, but I don’t hold it against Lucinda or her management.

    2) Being aware of the past fan club fiasco- does a fan club hold any appeal if it made sense and had value? (1-10)
    1. I didn’t belong to the past fan club and probably wouldn’t join a new one.

    3) The possibility of being able to buy tickets before the general public -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)
I’ve only seen Lucinda twice where the tickets weren’t General Admission, and one venue I am unlikely to go back to and the other was when she appeared at UCLA with her dad. I’ve never had a problem getting a GA ticket, so this isn’t necessary for me.

    4) More live releases -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)
4a) Digital only (1-10) 6. Environmentally and cost effectively this is the best option, but it can’t have any rights management coding in it that prohibits copying it to multiple devices.
4b) Prefer cd (1-10)9. I’m still old school.

Thanks for being open to our opinions, Tom!

    1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison 5 Neutral on chronological order. Takes the anticipation out of the show of hearing that “one” song, whatever it may be, being played if that one favorite record has been already “showcased” in the set.

    2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock (1-10) 3 Takes the audio interest out of the show.

    3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock (1-10)4 Better than #2. Allows the fan to “choose” the music format but once again, not for me.

    4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city (1-10)10 I would be salivating over this. Unheard of for me with most artists, I know Lu has done it prior, but what an amazing gift for her fans (again).

    5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. (1-10) 9 LC Pavilion, Columbus, OH worked for me!

In a different and more general category:
    1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal (1-10)5 Neutral. I curse every time I see those TM charges, however, it doesn’t stop me from buying a ticket to whatever artist is touring that I want to see. I’d really rather see Lu keep the money and/or I would like to see measures implemented to nix scalpers .

    2) Being aware of the past fan club fiasco- does a fan club hold any appeal if it made sense and had value? (1-10) 9 I wasn’t a member of past fan club but joining one that is properly managed works for me! Some perks could include the special access to presale tickets, something worked out for fans if a show is GA, Lucinda meet and greets, band meet and greets, access to band sound check, a Lucinda or band member special access blog, access to members only picture gallery, to name a few

    3) The possibility of being able to buy tickets before the general public -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10) YES! See above.

    4) More live releases -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)Absolutely
    4a) Digital only (1-10)
4b) Prefer cd (1-10)10 I’m just old school.

    5) What cities have we missed? Cincinnati! Come to the midwest more!

    6) And last but not least, what did I miss?–consider this the suggestion box. Do you feel radio interviews are beneficial? I love to listen to radio interviews. Have Lu stop in every now and then to radio stations that support her by spinning her music.

LW in 09 – this is tough – I agree with previous posts that what I love about LW shows is you never know. I have seen her maybe 11 times in the last 18 years and each show has been a surprise. I do see that her shows often flow from start to finish like her albums culminating in a big blues number that they really rock out on live. Anyway, I’ll try to vote

    1) Shows that would have a chronological setlist like the second set of the first show in Mpls or the show in Madison (1-10)
9 – I saw a set like this in Edmonton (ST Albert) this month – I felt it was a lucky treat – however the reason we loved it so much was because it was unexpected and was a walk through her musical career accompanied by LW’s stories of where she was at. In this time of internet set lists are shared from town to town so having a few different set lists for a tour keeps you wondering what she’ll do in your town.

    2) Shows that would have split sets -with the first set being ballads etc, a break, and then the second set being rock (1-10)

7 – I think ultimately I love LW’s ballads more than her rock and blues and know that others probably are exactly the opposite – so I think that it’s nice to have a set list that integrates both – otherwise you get all you love in one half and then the other half is all another theme. The way her set list usually builds up and then slows down is part of the beauty of an LW show. I always feel her set lists seem to be so carefully selected (much like musicians carefully order songs on their records)

    3) Similar to number 2– in larger cities where we could do it or where the right venue exists–doing two nights, with the first night being the ballads etc and the second night more rock (1-10)

9 – I would LOVE this and would definitely go both nights if only I lived in a bigger city than Edmonton and would even have this option!

    4) Closing the year with a return of the album shows -probably only in one city (1-10)

10 – not sure if I could ever make one of these shows but I loved the idea of it last time and can only imagine how great it would be to sit through an entire album that you love. The Chronological set felt like a mini version of this – very cool.

    5) Don’t change anything -I like the shows as they are. (1-10)

10 – ultimately I would say this is my fave option – the way LW shakes it up from show to show is part of her magic. But certainly throwing in the chronological sets in towns that are close together or that support 2 nights (in case people go to 2 shows 2 nights in a row) is a great thing!

In a different and more general category:
    1) To offset the venues that charge Ticketmaster fees -we are considering offering those fees back as a credit at the merch table -does this have appeal (1-10)

8- this has appeal but I think we’re all used to paying those damn fees anyway. But yeah, if I had a credit for my fees this past tour I would have splurged for an LW shirt. (especially because they were particularly nice shirts) Instead I grabbed 2 Little Honey stickers and made magnets (you should do that next time!)

    2) Being aware of the past fan club fiasco- does a fan club hold any appeal if it made sense and had value? (1-10)
6-I don’t know the last “fan club fiasco” but I must say I value this site and am never really sure about fan clubs (how long do my fees get me a membership, do I really hear about shows first? am I really part of the “official” fan club?) I LOVE this LW site and that you all actually manage it and listen so if a fan club would lessen this contact – that would be a shame. Also, how many sites can a person find time to visit? Could the fan club be attached to this site maybe?

    3) The possibility of being able to buy tickets before the general public -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)
10-I love this idea – and ultimately if I had to join the fan club to do this – LW is one performer I would do this for!

    4) More live releases -(possibly as part of a fan club?) (1-10)
    4a) Digital only (1-10)
    8-I’m still a cd girl..
    4b) Prefer cd (1-10)
10-if joining the fan club would get me a special release of LW songs this would greatly increase the value of an LW fan club in my mind.

    5) What cities have we missed?
Thankfully my cities have usually been included in her tours (originally Edmonton then Vancouver BC and now back to Edmonton AB) Please make sure to keep Edmonton on your list as there are A LOT of LW fans here. I know the last show was in such a small venue a lot of my friends missed out on the opportunity. And even though LW plays folk fests In Alberta from time to time – we’ll still come out and see her during the year at theatre venues (Jubilee and Winspear etc…) because folk fest sets are usually short and only a glimpse of a true LW show…

    6) And last but not least, what did I miss?–consider this the suggestion box.

Hmm, I can’t think of what you missed. I love LW’s quirky charm on stage and she always seeming knows what she WANTS to play. I remember the first time I saw her in ’92 she was a little grumpy at the crowd who kept requesting off her previous albums and she had played a couple of those but ultimately wanted to play the new stuff. That is the thing about LW – she’s never had a bad album so whatever she wants to play – well that’s what should be played. And always wanting my favorite songs to be on the set list is a little part of what will keep me coming back every time. That, and the simple fact that her music is one of the better things I’ve come across in my life…
