lwjIt does indeed. That allmusic.com “Credits” list on Lu’s entry was one of my sources when compiling the spreadsheet, so I must have overlooked that one. Thank you.
The good news for me regarding my “quest” is I already own 3 CDs by Ms. Bullens, including Somewhere Between Heaven & Earth… 😉
Thanks again LWJ,
Tom
P.S. The spreadsheets linked to at the top of this thread have been updated both with this new entry as well as one for the song TO notified me about (“Don’t Let Me Down” w/ Susan Marshall)…

Here’s another song to add to your speadsheet. Lu contributed vocals and acoustic guitar to a second song on Nanci Griffith’s “Other Voices, Too (A Trip Back To Bountiful)” record. The song is “Deportee (Plane Wreck at Los Gatos)”, the Woody Guthrie & Martin Hoffman song from 1961.

I know this song is on your spreadsheet, but for others who have never heard this beautiful song, here it is.
From the compilation album Tulare Dust, a Trbute to Merle Haggard from 1994.
Lucinda is singing “You don’t have very far to go”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3Nfvt1BVO8

This one doesn’t seem to be on your spreadsheet.Lu singing “A Song for You” by Gram Parsons.
It also was on a DVD in LA 2004.
Here is a You Tube from the concert.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvzJ39m4vsA

February 1, 2010 at 8:23 pm #41859tntracyParticipantCool, thanks, LWJ, but I am not including anything that was not released on a CD/LP at some time. Another example would be Lu singing Glen Campbell’s “Gentle On My Mind” during the closing credits of the movie “Talladega Nights” – it isn’t on the soundtrack CD from the film & it was never released on any other CD either…

It’s just absolutely beautiful (without a doubt, the best performance on the disc). If you like the song, you’ll love her version!
Lu also covers “Sleepless Night” which is very nice, and there are some other good performances, and some that have a bit of an odour – you have to fast forward through Keith Richards – but oddly, no Emmy Lou…
February 3, 2010 at 12:28 am #41861tntracyParticipantThanks for the recommendation, IS – I will definitely look further into it.
But please don’t misread my response above about not including songs from DVDs on my “Guest Appearances” list. I have nothing against DVDs per se – I own both of Lu’s ACL DVDs, for example. It’s just my list & related “quest” is designed to identify & acquire all commercially-released & studio-recorded material on which Lu appears. I purposefully excluded live performances of covers, duets, etc., because those are much, MUCH harder to research & acquire in many, if not most, cases.

This one is on my shopping list for sure Itchy Skin.
Quite a length to the song “Song for You” too-almost 7 minutes.
So sad that both Gram and Janis left us so early in life.lwj

And here is a beautiful quote from the thread I posted “Lilith Fair 2010?
Quote”If you are foolish enough not to own her ( Lucinda ) latest CD, your life is an empty shell.” End QuoteWe are very fortunate to experience Lu’s musicology indeed.
$17.99 Cdn= $17.10 US-not a bad deal y’alllwj

Lu’s cover is “I’m so happy I found you”Quote Lucinda explained the fascinating background before launching into this piece near the end of her Sept 26, 2009 concert in Charlottesville. Bob Dylan acquired the lyrics to twenty-five unfinished Hank Williams songs and passed out the tracks to various musicians. Each lucky artist then added music to the unfinished Hank Williams words, and the results will be compiled into a giant compilation CD. Someof the participants, I later learned are Willie Nelson, Jack White, Alan Jackson, and Bob Dylan. She lamented the delay in releasing the album as she recorded this song three years ago. So here it is! We had seats in the second row for this amazing concert. end Quote
I can’t find any info on the release of this compilation yet, but it looks like it could be added to your spreadsheet some day tntracy.
I guess this would be the 2nd Hank Williams tribute in addition to Lucinda’s Grammy nomination for “Cold Cold Heart” in 2002.

March 4, 2010 at 7:20 pm #41867Itchy SkinParticipantRe the Hank Williams project – I’ve heard Lu’s tune and also Norah Jones’ (she performed it on Elvis Costello’s tv show – I believe it’s on youtube also…) and both were fantastic. I can’t wait for it to be released but it’s pretty much impossible to dig up any info on a release date, or any current info in general – maybe Mr. Overby can shed some light…?
And maybe you could tell us if there any discussion of Lu appearing on the Elvis show?
