thanks Lefty and Tony. Tony, now is the time to start (1) darkening your wardrobe and (2) inking your biceps, so as to be hip enough to enter that Lu Valentine’s Night venue.
Well, I’m happy to report a successful Jayhawks night two. I worked the line from end to start a bit before doors, and was rewarded for my pains by stony silence to my query about anybody wanting to sell an extra ticket, save for one bitch who bade me “go on up to the corner and buy yourself one.” Which I in time did, from a guy who couldn’t have distinguished the Jayhawks from the Badgers but was working the spot with a wad of cash and some e-tix print-outs. The boys (plus Grotberg) did 24 total, one more than last night, ending with a ragged reversion to the “Bunkhouse” album re-released on Lost Highway, “People in This Place.” “Ain’t No End” preceded it in the encore, Louris strangely coming unmiked near the end. That was a “special request.” The main set went well, with the one cover on Tomorrow the GG attributed graciously by Louris to Grand Funk Railroad. Two repeats from HTH, plus three or four newbies from the “late spring or early summer” studio record impending. “NV CA” from Blue Earth was a treat. Still lean on the last 3 official Jayhawks records, “Tampa to Tulsa” done again and received nicely to start the encore.
Now what to tide me over until Lu solo night four, Wisconsin?
