September 30, 2008 at 7:30 pm #37356Inside JobParticipantI believe this was it:
Real Love
Steal Your Love
Tears Of Joy
Concrete & Barbed Wire
Jailhouse Tears
People Talkin’
Out Of Touch
Little Rock Star
Essence
Come On
Change The Locks
Bleeding Fingers
Honey Bee
Joy/Riders On The Storm
RighteouslyHot Blood
I Live My Life
For What Its Worth
Long Way To The TopAnd Charlotte was the same except that Well,Well,Well began the encore instead of Hot Blood and was dedicated to Ralph Stanley who came out the day before and endorsed Obama. Also Joy did not include the Riders On The Storm section.

Yup – no doubt. “Hot Blood” & “Side of the Road” are two I want to see live before I die…

Actually, I must have seen that one at the El Rey one of those nights.

Unfortunately, no. And it is one of my (many) favorites.
But, I don’t plan on dying any time soon, so there is still plenty of time… 😉

when i first read about the el rey shows, i bought tix for all the nights, just to hear the rough trade album. (i was still in the throes of raising kids during those years and missed out on early lu)
if you collect older live shows, you know she used to do side of the road quite often, but the el rey show was my only time.a mutual aquaintance sent her my request to hear side of the road at the catalyst in santa cruz (the thought of him doing that was as nice or nicer then if she’d actually sung it for me!)
i’m guessing she wants to do the songs that her band knows best (as the perfectionist she is) and the new songs are great, so i don’t mind. i’ve been blessed by friends sending me some of those old shows, so it placates me i guess.
monday night at the el rey is on me at all times (along with ballad of sally rose, a jd souther compilation, the second set of a jayhawks show in seattle…hahahaha
among a few other cds that i just make sure i have with me at all times/multiple copies)i hope to hear em live again tho! 😉
