So, here is the most horrible attempt at a set list, EVER. I am hopeful that a more seasoned professional will follow and provide all of the highlights, and there were many. Stay tuned.

Upon walk=off; Lu says “now thats what i call an encore”quite glorious; as dawn said; damn these frenchie keyboards thougha, i not in flanders? one final thing; though; ive seen Lu in so,e crappy venues, but never have i seen multiple fans leave their places to shush a pair of talking e,ployees 10=12 feet from the stage, during “lake charles”. Iron Maiden fans perhaps? Abominable.
What an amazing show to be at. As per the night before, after a few songs it looked like it might fall apart, only for it to be wonderful. Certainly the best audience response I’ve seen for a Lu gig in London, which always helps proceedings (I’ve had 3 previous London visits for Lu).
It was 35-40 mins longer than the Dublin and London-1 shows that I went to this week, which I guess was a testament to the band wanting to keep up the enjoyment. It was a great novelty to get those guest appearances in the encores: I assume they hadn’t rehearsed the songs with the band and just winged it. My favourite bit of the encore though was the VU cover, a really lovely version, which they rocked out at the end.
The sound on the floor was, again, really clear from where I was under the right stack, which is never a given for any new venue I go to. Kudos to the Front of House guy.
I was hoping for some more of the new album, as I’d had a few days to listen to it having bought the vinyl at the Dublin show. As it’s only just out over here and not yet out Stateside, I can understand why there were only 2 songs played, which I thought sounded wonderful live.
“Greenville” was listed on the setlist as an alternative to 2 Kool, which would have been… cool, but in all it was a great set. There are just too many great songs in the catalogue ! I think my favourite bit of the night was the end of “Joy” where Lu sang the last couple of lines unaccompanied, changing the timbre. It’s those little inflections which Lu does which marks her out from the people who always sing their songs verbatim.
Seeing the list of US shows coming up, with residencies…. can we have a London residency for 4/5/6/7 nights please ? I’d happily decamp to London for that. Or my hometown of Dublin, but I know that’s asking too much !

NIce reflections. Yes; Joy was tinkered zith; but it worked well. “Greenville” would have been a surprise, but at any rate night two had more from Car wheels.
I too have seen Lu in London multiple times, including Indigo within O2 and Shepherds. The response ,ight in fact have been better here, but doubt she will be back, in spite of better overall promotion and booking for Europe now.
Covers were great though not sure wich is “VU”: was it not Hendrix; clash; neil Young; lou reed ? and truly no rehearsal; though she has been doing Unsuffer some. Chrissie and JP (side project) made a bit of a hash out of Sweet Side while opening for Lu and coming out at end in CA few years back, so this was better.
The way Lucinda expressed her dislike for the whole O2 complex made me wonder if she’d forgotten playing there once before some years ago. That was at the O2 Indigo, the other smaller venue inside the big dome.
I was at that gig too, and I thought the sound at the Brooklyn Bowl on Saturday night was infinitely superior. Up there with the best shows I’ve ever heard in 45 years of concert-going, in fact. So it was a real surprise to hear her criticise it, though she did qualify that later by saying her problem was with the onstage sound.
As an audience member I liked the venue a lot more than most standing spaces (and in my 60th year I really don’t relish standing for three-and-a-half hours, no matter who’s on the stage).
Anyway, it was after Lucinda had vented her spleen that the show really began to take off, and it just got better and better all night. I really enjoyed the support set from Stuart, David and Butch in their Buick 6 guise too. It takes a really tight and talented band to get away with guitar, bass and drums with only occasional vocals, but their show was thrilling from start to finish.

I concur with BrianH’s comments about the venue & sound. I went to both nights and enjoyed both immensely. I also thought the sightlines were great and much better than the SB Empire which seems to slope downwards as you move further away from the stage.
Well worth the trek out east, I guess it was a case of triumph over adversity for Lucinda.

I guess I was just too excited about walking back to the North Greenwich tube station flanked by every retail franchise on six continents that I gave up too soon. Does this mean the DJ was silenced so the double encore could proceed? If so, you could say there were, in effect, seven sets that night: DJ/Buick 6/DJ/Lu main set/Lu first encore/DJ/Lu second encore.

Whew thought I was going crazy for a minute.
Looks like reviewer used the printed setlist on the stage for their song titles, rather than what actually happened on the night, which deviated from that 🙂
