Lisa Marie Presley

I saw Lisa Marie Presley at the Roxy on the sunset strip last night. She played about 75 minutes in front of a big crowd of very enthusiastic supporters. I saw Priscilla Presley sitting in the VIP seats. She did not seem to notice me.

I can’t say I’m a huge LMP fan. In fact I sincerely doubt I will see her again but her band was good and Doug was awesome as always. Doug played electric guitar on one song, acoustic on another, and the rest of the time was on pedal steel or mandolin. He played a killer pedal steel on the title song of her new album. Her husband Michael Lockwood was the primary guitarist.

Lisa sings in a very low voice and doesn’t really belt it out so the band kind of overpowered her but it seemed to me that’s how she wanted it. I spent all evening in the throes of a massive toothache from a root canal and I was flying on pain meds, antibiotics, and wine. Always a treat.
