The more we learn about this magical project called “Blessed” (from reading/hearing Lucinda’s interviews), the more we learn about Tom’s influence:

    1) Tom recruited Don Was to co-produce the album, enough said.

    2) I believe Don’s involvement led to the Bob Clearmountain re-mix – enough said.

    3) Tom recruited Elvis Costello to play on the album, one listen to “Seeing Black” – enough said.

    4) Tom came up with the idea of taking the ‘Blessed’ pictures, which may grow into an HBO documentary, as well as creating a groundswell of awareness of the blessings in our own lives.

    5) Tom did the sequencing of songs on “Blessed”, which I suspect is a lot harder to do than it seems at first glance. One example is being devastated by ‘Soldier’s Song’, and then having it followed by ‘Blessed’ with the lyrics ‘we were blessed by the soldier who gave up his life’, to make you feel more at peace about his sacrifice. And then ending with ‘Kiss Like Your Kiss’, IMO the happily-ever-after ending to the album.

    6) I also believe it was Tom who brought Blake Mills to the band. Blake has already joined in the forum, and per Lafayette’s YouTube posting, he was performing Lu’s music long before involvement with the band. We can’t wait to see him perform live and in person!

Tom, you and Lu make a great team, and we appreciate all the behind the scenes work you do – including your responsiveness and strong involvement with the forum. THANKS!!! 🙂
