I’ve just listened to Blessed – Kitchen Tapes for the umteenth time and want to share a little story. I’m 63, live in St. Louis, MO and – until Blessed was released – wasn’t familiar with Lucinda Williams. On June 24, 2011, our oldest daughter called to say she was going into labor. My wife was feeling pretty puny but that wasn’t going to keep us from the birth of our first grandchild, so we drove the 500 miles to Grand Rapids, MI, arriving about 1:00am. Later the morning of the 25th, Meghan gave birth to Finn but my wife was feeling even punier and couldn’t bask in the delight of our first born’s first born. On the 26th Meghan and Finn were still getting to know each other at Bryon Center Hospital and my wife was admitted to the same hospital with a tick-borne infection. She very nearly died. I never left her side. I cannot tell you how many times I listened to “Kiss Like Your Kiss” in my mind. I cannot tell you how it helped me put our 37-year marriage in perspective…my wife is the seasons of my life. My bride was released to home care after a week and, thankfully, has fully recovered. Thank you for helping me through the most happy/sad time of my life.
