Sad to read that Kasey is having medical issues with her vocal chords. Hopefully, her respite will alleviate the problem:

Hope you didn’t have hundreds invested in a jet to Down Under Land, Paul. . .

The Pollstar link below specifies the itinerary for an ambitious Kasey Chambers tour of the USA this summer 2015. An imposing schedule of 14 performances and trans-continental travel, considering Kasey just completed medical treatment for her vocal chords.

This tour promotes the USA release of Kasey’s Bittersweet album, released in Australia during summer 2014.

You may need to scroll the Pollstar screen to see all 14 dates–there may be advertising in the middle of the list.

I attended the opening night of this tour (Wed, July 29) in San Francisco at “The Chapel” on busy Valencia Street in the Mission District. An excellent, medium-sized venue, with a large standing area in front of the stage, bar-stools towards the rear, then an upstairs with 2 tiers of bar-stools and standing areas. Lots of room to meander within the venue between songs. Bars on both levels, plus an adjacent public bar separate from the music room.

A local opening act from 9-930, then Kasey and band performed from 10-1148. Setlist from this link (not compiled by me):

Band configuration was father Bill Chambers on guitars, the busking duo Grizzlee Train on guitars and percussion, and session musician James Haselwood on bass. Sadly, no fiddlers, unlike previous tours.

This venue was perfect for the band, allowing the audience to stand close-up, and interact with Kasey and friends. A great ambience for music and movement within the venue. Other venues for this tour may diminish this ambience with seats and targeted food/beverage service.

A gal I met at a bar, Jennifer Van Meter-White, a singer songwriter, after a Farm Aid show a few years ago is opening for Kasey at Rams Head in Annapolis on March 22. She is thrilled, as you can imagine.

I learned from that night at the bar, babbling as i usually do after a few drinks, 😀 is a huge Lucinda fan and also admired Miller Williams as well. It’s a long story but she has one of Miller’s books, autographed, and considers it one of her cherished possessions. She is beautiful in person and spirit.

    Link to this event.

Maybe the same pairing when the tour gets to Nash on the 26th of March, Lafayette?

It looks as though Jennifer is a one off. I’m posting her tour schedule below. It looks as though she stays local (she lives near Annapolis). I wonder if Kasey is pulling local talent at each of her stops?

Last night (Thursday, March 9), Kasey opened her 2017 USA tour with a fine performance at the Freight & Salvage Coffee House in downtown Berkeley, California. For this tour, Kasey is supported by her two-piece band, Grizzlee Train. No fiddle, no bass–just lots of guitars, banjo, and percussion.

Her setlist included the usual favorites, plus songs from the new album Dragonfly.

A helpful fan provided this setlist to setlist.fm:

The unknown songs were mostly from Dragonfly, including one song where Kasey plays resonator guitar.

There was a local opening act, then Kasey played from 9:00-10:51 PM.

A brilliant show, with a well responsive audience. Also, excellent selections of wine, beer, and cookies, in addition to coffee.

No cookies likely at Nash’s 3rd and Lindsley at end ofmonth, Paul, but we Tennesseeans look forward to her.

Worthwhile final show of the tour, last night (Sunday, Mar. 26) at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. I was joined at the show by stoger and tntracy. I chose to watch from upstairs at an empty table with 4 bar stools–a bit quieter than downstairs. Kasey’s fellow Australian Harry Hookey opened the show, and Harry and Kasey guested in each other’s sets. Kasey’s main set was broadcast live on radio from 9-10, then Kasey returned with her encore, including Talkin’ Baby Blues, which is not suitable for radio broadcast (includes F-word).

I just encountered Kasey and her mates at Nashville airport–we’re flying different airlines, but I suspect they’re flying much further home than me.

    Nice airport cameo, Paul.

It might be worth noting that in addition to expletives, Kasey’s talking blues song also includes the lyrics “sweet old world” and “Ah, Lucinda.”

I was able to listen to this show on Lightning 100, per a message tip from TNT.

I never took the time to give Kasey a listen, even though many of my FF members have raved about her. She is amazing. Entertaining. Great improv. Beautiful voice.

I found this interview posted several years ago. Perhaps many of you know the ‘fingernail polish remover’ story, but I’m going to copy and paste, just the same. Kasey really does love our Lu.
