Farm Aid …..Oct 2 in Milwaukee, WI at Milwaukee Brewer’s Miller Park.

Apparently, Willie let the date and location slip during an interview on an XM radio station.

Official announcement is on Monday, August 2 via webcam at 11:00 a.m. CT on Farm Aid website

So, there you have it, lwj.

Well, Lafayette to quote you “Eeeesh” about Milwaukee.
Here are some quick calculations I did.
Driving time: 11 hrs., 606 miles for me, For you: 6 and 1/2 hrs. 294 miles
Airfare return from Toronto $427.Cdn (direct) or $227.US from Buffalo(via Cleveland or Chicago).
Plus hotel and meals for 2 nights, plus the Farm Aid ticket.
Why I could fly to LA on Aug.25 and return on Aug.28 on Air Canada or American Airlines non-stop for $476.Cdn and catch the LU Queen Mary on the 26th and then drive to Sandyeggo for Lu on the 27th.
I guess both of these are way out of my budget, but I can at least say I’ve seen NEIL, LU and JM live all in the past year and a half.
Hope you opt to go to Milwaukee.

Lucky for me Milwaukee is within my 8 hour parameter for concert road trips. I wish it had been better for you, lwj. Farm Aid is a fun & (great cause) concert to attend.

I just had a friend (who I actually “met” on myspace, through Mellencamp), lives in Bloomington, IN, post to my facebook profile my online Mellencamp blog about crossing the border after the Windsor show, was published in today’s Bloomington Herald Times. It’s the first time I’ve been published since writing for the online blog for over 1 1/2 years!

Congrats from me too.Loved your blog sign off eh!

Just finished watching the live Farm Aid webcast and despite the technical difficulties I liked it especially the audience up to the second comments. ( reminded me of the dialogue on Lu’s web cast from First Avenue in Oct./08)
Also fun to hear Willie’s ball team name mix up and John’s very thoughtful comment that Willie should receive the Nobel prize.
It was announced that Farm Aid 25 will broadcast live on Direct TV (which is not available in Canada) but also a live web cast.
So unless I win the lottery to fly to Milwaukee I’ll be able to watch part of the show live.
How much of the show would air live from your past experience Lafayette?

On another note tracks from “No better Than This” are getting a lot of airplay on Sirius CH 29 “The Loft”
The DJ’s have more than once commented on the uniqueness of this album being recorded in mono.
I hope the new record is available on Aug. 17th here in Canada as well. Sometimes it’s a week later in Canada.

Farm Aid webcast, even with the glitches, was fun to watch.

As I recall, lwj, Farm Aid concert webcast typically tunes in around 5:00 p.m. EST Past years have had Dave Matthews hit the stage around 7:00 or so with JM following in the 8:00 hour, Neil on around 9ish and Willie bringing up the finale around 10:00 or so. Their sets run around 45 minutes.

John is charting #4 on AMA charts, not sure about any others.

American Songwriter released press announcing John Mellencamp will be receiving a Lifetime Achievement award from the Americana Music Association on Sept 9. Greg Leisz will be on stage to receive one as well.

The show has a who’s who of Americana artists performing that evening with the exception of one… Lucinda is not on the list of performers!

Hey Lafayette, looks like your 8 hour parameter is working great for JM’s new fall schedule( 2in1-movie & a concert ) just announced.
For you: Bloomington, Cincinnati, Indianapolis(twice),Detroit and Fort Wayne
    For me: Detroit.
I see Jon E. Gee is not listed for the tour from the e-mail today. Sure was great meeting him in Windsor.
Funny thing, I got a 2nd e-mail announcing the phase out of Club Cherry Bomb complete with a $40.00 merchandise voucher and code (gotta be a mistake) . Strange, I wasn’t a paying membership Club member, only a login visitor to the site.

Nashville, too, don’t forget Nashville, lwj! Actually, they are ALL within my parameter except Minneapolis. The ticket prices, well, let’s just say a lot of folks are dismayed, between that and opening up presale to general public.

Yes, new website just launched, CCB is phasing out with an open community board and open pre-sales. Interesting you were given a store voucher. Fanfire, JM’s outsourced merch, has had incompetency issues in past dealings.

As far as Jon E. Gee, he is still in the band! His given name is Jon Gunnell (many times management, or whoever is in charge), spells it as “John.”

The ticket prices, for now, are limiting me to Bloomington (I always love doing opener), Cincinnati (a given!) and one of the Indy shows providing I can pull up decent tickets. Are you planning on going to Detroit? PM me if so.

Detroit is very tempting for Nov. 19th at the historic Fox Theatre ( built in 1928, 5,000 seats and just a gorgeous interior), but you are right about prices $42.-$125.before you know who’s fees.
I’m undecided at this point as I have now booked the following fall shows:
Sarah Harmer-Sep. 4 in Niagara, ON
Eels with the Chet-Sep. 29 in Toronto, ON
    Emmylou Harris-Nov. 10 in Buffalo
I know JM’s shows will sell out so I can’t ponder it too long.

presale is going on right now (today!). Don’t ponder too long. Ticket fees really not bad.

Also, according to a Rolling Stone interview, show is SUPPOSE to be 2 hours long. 30 minutes stripped down acoustic with band, 30 minutes solo acoustic, an hour rocking at the end.

I’m not holding my breath. JM hasn’t done a 2 hour show post heart attack (’93), but it could be promising.
