lwj..I had several friends at that show last night, a few in the front row! I would have love to have been but the stars didn’t align for me.

I have never been to Europe, perhaps one day. This will be JM’s first jaunt across the pond in 19 years on tour. In 1999 he played a small club in Germany and a few years ago he played a few gigs (industry showcases) in the UK along with a sit down with Bob Harris.

Divorces do that to JM. He either retreats or immerses himself in work. Looks like he has chosen the latter.

Lafayette, I see JM is appearing Friday and Saturday night way out in the Canadian prairies.-Regina SK.
I lived there (literally in the middle of nowhere) for 4 years in the mid 90’s.
I believe you are scheduled to catch his show in New Orleans.
Now when I was doing a little research on West Words post of Steve Cropper’s new album with Lu featured, Steve’s bio said he got his start on American Bandstand.
Well I couldn’t find anything further but I did find this interview/video of JC not JM with Dick Clark to add to your scrapbook, that is if you haven’t allready seen it.

My trip was amazing! My Sugar Bowl trip wish of returning to the Big Easy, sans young son, was granted.

The weather was sunny, hot but not humid, which is my kind of weather. JazzFest was great. I chose to see Amos on Saturday 😯 over JM for several reasons and after seeing the crowd at the stage for Bon Jovi (same stage JM played on Sunday)on Saturday, I was very happy I chose Amos. We were walking the grounds before Amos’s set and I ran into Mutlu and was introduced to Andrew, on keyboards. Amos mentioned during his set it was a dream for him to be playing Jazzfest…so I’ve seen 2 of his bucket list shows in the past several months.

    Again ! lafayette.
Too far for me to Kansas City, MO for Farm Aid in August.
I’m sure JM’s European tour will be a great success.

(Lu’s fans in Kansas City last night got drenched)

Too bad, lwj. Farm Aid is scheduling extreme temperature shows. Last year very cold in Milwaukee in October and I would bet very hot in KC in August. I personally prefer hot weather over cold.

jM abroad…it’s been a long time coming for those fans.

Stephen King announces his collaboration with John Mellencamp is stage ready, after 11+ years.

ATLANTA — Horror writer Stephen King says his first play, “The Ghost Brothers of Darkland County,” featuring haunting melodies by rocker John Mellencamp, is finally ready for the stage.

The musical, based on a legend about the deaths of two brothers and a girl at a rural cabin, was originally scheduled to debut at Atlanta’s Alliance Theatre two years ago, but was postponed.

King says Mellencamp and the play’s director weren’t getting along. The new director is Susan Booth. [my take: 😆 ]

King says Mellencamp wanted it set in the South because he admires Tennessee Williams. King says that worked for him because he’d been reading William Faulkner novels.

He says the play, which opens next April, was designed for a small stage, small cast and small technical requirements, “sort of the anti-Spiderman.”

See you in Chez Tracy next Spring, Lafayette! I’m really looking forward to it! I can deal with some “anti-Spiderman”! 😆

I am looking forward to this production, tnt, as well as the invite to Chez Tracy. As long as JM isn’t involved in the acting parts (and he isn’t)…we’re good.

Lafayette, I had Mellenblog added to my favorites on my computer quite some time ago so I thought I would revisit the site.
The JM song/ thought of the day for a full year is most interesting.
Must compliment your fellow writer, Christine on her thoughts.
    Very nicely done.

Christine is a very passionate writer and many mellenheads enjoy her blogs. I’ve been lax in that department. My wrist sidelined me and I never got back in the groove. Will have to change that, although I, for the most part, just regurgitate news featured on JM’s site.

I just received JM’s e-mail on the new Fall tour.

Boy Lafayette, I have 2 choices to see John.
Oct. 28 in London, ON ( my home town ) + Amos in Toronto, ON on October 27th
Or October 29 in Hamilton, ON ( only a 45 minute drive for me.)
How’s the gossip news these days about John and Meg Ryan?
Are you stll travelling to Kansas City for Farm Aid next month?

I would be very tempted to drive up and catch both JM & Amos however I’ve opted to attend the AMA awards instead.

Paparazzi following JM & Meg everywhere…

I’m headed to Farm Aid in a few weeks. Not thrilled about the lineup but this event is more about supporting Farm Aid and the farmers.
